The Drop Off- Nashville 1999
#16

The Drop-Off and Sherpa together in an encore, yah? Coincedentally enough, these two tunes were played together in the encore at Pittsburgh this year...

Escape Is At Hand-Tales of a Boy and a Band due June 2013 from Eternal Cavalier Press

Chris, I would be careful with this one... It is entirely possible that the "encore" was just tacked on to the actual setlist. Especially if Rich doesn't know the actual lineacge of the recording. I'm sure MAv could check in his archives, to confirm or deny the drop-off... Sounds strange to me why we are only hearing about that song being played back then, now.

I'll definitely review the files/waveforms and see if it looks/sounds out of place.

If the drop-off and sherpa were the encore in pittsburgh, then someone most likely tacked it on to the nashville 99 show and tried to pass it off as the real deal. I'm sure Chris will be able to tell when he gets the disc. I sent it with expedited shipping, courtesy of work, so we will know shortly.
The disc, to my ears sounded seemless, like it was the actual encore, but what the hell do I know. That's why I posted it it was too odd to keep to myself. This is why the Hipbase is great, when something like this pops up we can put our collective minds together to sniff out the bullshit.

Still, I can't tell how cool it was to pop the disc in while doing paper work, zone out, and then hear the drop-off come on. I was like what the F....

This is all just so tantalizing ... but if it really is the drop off, how does one propose to deal with the "no new stuff till new album" pact.

moral conundra abound.

I think the request was no 2006 shows until the new album gets released...

I have the master DAT of this show. The show was originally sourced by the taper Alan Moore. Once he stopped taping/trading the tape was then sold to Peter Padjen. Once Peter's got out of the game I picked up the tape. The Drop Off and Sherpa were not played at this show ... guaranteed.

The original source of this show was taped with this equipment:

Audio Technica AT825 microphones > Sony M1 DAT

I assumed his friend that sent it to him must of tacked those 2 on from the Pittsburgh show that was on the tracker, the sound would be similar between the 2 sources as Pittsburgh was AT831's but Pittsburgh was outdoor, and I'm guessing Nashville was indoor.

According to Hipman332001 on the tracker, the Nashville show was outdoors (I think he said he was there)

Quote:The setting for this show was extremely unique. The stage was very high up on a barge on the Cumberland River in Downtown Nashville. It was a free show on the Thursday nite concert series, "Dancin' In The Streets"

First of all:
The Sloginator comes out of nowhere with his smashing info!!!
Second of all:
It was probably from pittsburg but on the end of the cd to fill it and for the guy to check out a new song.
1999:
It wouldn't suprise me if it came out of a rant in 100th or NOIS but we have all been blessed with songs like fighter fighter and montreal as well.
