The Drop Off- Nashville 1999 - rich3677 - 08-04-2006

Sorry if this has been discussed already...I did do the requisite search and came up blank.

I just got a copy of the nashville 99 show:

The drop-off was played in the encore.

Makes you think about how many other new songs are in the Hip vault just waiting to see the light of day.

The Drop-off sounds so, dare i say, modern and it has been around since 99 and possibly earlier.

Hey Rich!

Could you post that show to the tracker?

The setlist at Hipbase lists this as the setlist:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.hipbase.com/archive/concert.php?id=428">http://www.hipbase.com/archive/concert.php?id=428</a><!-- m -->

The encore was:
Drop-Off
Sherpa

As far as posting it the tracker: I have no problem doing so, but technically, i'm technically braindead. So in other words i would need detailed instructions on how to post it. Let me know.

Sounds good to me:

1. In the folder that your Bit Torrent client downloads into, create a new directory into which all of the compressed (FLAC or SHN) or DVD files will be saved. Name it tth“YYYY-MM-DD – City Name, Province/
State (substitute the details pertinent to the show your will be seeding)”

2. Create a text file that contains the details of the source/venue/
equipment used/person who taped show, and a complete setlist. Name this file “tthYYYY-MM-DD – City Name, Province/State (substitute the details pertinent to the show your will be seeding)” and save it into the directory created in step #1.

3. Start your compression program (FLACer, xACT, FLAC Frontend, etc) and select the audio tracks (WAV or AIFF) that you want to compress. Or start your DVD ripper software, and select the DVD you want to rip.

4. Choose the folder you created in step #1 as the output destination, and compress your audio.

5. Start your Bit Torrent creating software.

6. Choose “Create a Torrent” or similar.

7. Select the directory you created in step #1 as the folder/files you
want to torrent.

8. The tracker/announce URL is “http://bt.hipfans.com/announce.php”

9. Save the torrent with a file name that is similar to the folder name
you created in step #1.

10. Log on to <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://bt.hipfans.com">http://bt.hipfans.com</a><!-- m --> and select “Upload Torrent”
from the menu.

11. Choose the torrent file and the text file you just completed and enter a basic description.

12. Select a .torrent type and click the “Upload .torrent” button. When successful the resulting webpage will have a link that reads, "Click Here to Seed" Clicking this link will download a new .torrent file from the server. Open this .torrent file with your Bit Torrent client and as long as everything is set-up correctly, the software should take care of it from there.

If this isn't something you want to tackle, I can set up and FTP site for you to upload the show to, and then I'll torrent it.

Thanks!

That is so odd. I can't believe they played those 2 songs in the encore back in 1999. I'd really love to hear this.

According to Rory's site, this is what the setlist looked like. The 2 encoures were Chagrin Falls and Fire in the Hole.

Chris, I know you're gonna think i'm an idiot and to a degree i am, but, you lost me and i don't have a compression program nor dvd ripper software, at least that i know of. To be honest, I truly have no clue what you're talking about. Sorry :oops:

No sweat Rich.

Are you on MSN? If so, add me... the link is in my sig.

If not, I assume that the show is on CD in a format that plays on your standard CD player. You need to get the audio off the CD and onto your computer by using an extraction program. Let me know the details of your situation and I'll post a simple walk-through... and we'll skip Bit Torrent altogether.

The disc i got from a friend has all of the songs on that set list as well as drop-off and sherpa at the end. The disc is labeled Nashville '99. My friend periodically mails me discs when he gets them. It was odd to me too that's why i posted. Chris is helping me to post the show. I will post it ASAP.

- rich3677 - 08-04-2006

Chris the show was on cd and i used my windows media player to rip it to the computer. I am not on MSN.

Get a free copy of EAC (Exact Audio Copy) and extract the wav files from the CD to your hard drive using that.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/">http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/</a><!-- m -->

Once the files are on your hard drive, use a program called FLAC Frontend to compress the WAV files to FLAC.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm">http://members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm</a><!-- m -->

Once that is complete, let me know and I'll give you an FTP site that you can upload them to.

- rich3677 - 08-04-2006
