The most "patriotic" thing I ever brought/wore to a concert was a Montreal Canadians jersey... I should be safe.

Ya, I wore my Leaf jersey to the Canada Day show. But that should be legal since it was in Toronto...

I've been thinking about this topic. I certainly understand the arguments on both sides. But look at the hypocracy of Gord's comments on nationalism when he himself sings O Canada at the MLB All-Star game. Food for thought.

you beat me to it, he sang it on Canada day too didn't he? i think they just try to play down their heritage so they're not pigeonholed more than they already have been. however, when you read the lyrics, it becomes quite apparent that GD is a man that is very knowledgable of, and very in love with his country. in all honesty, i don't think the hip could've "happened" anywhere else in the world but Canada, just wouldn't be the same, they'd probably be The Festively Plump or something crazy like that.

You know, I think it just comes do to the fact that "it's cool if it's foriegn". For instance, I live in Kansas City, but am from Chicago. Living in Chicago, I was never a HUGE Hawks fan. Now, I move to KC, and I'm Mr. Denis Savard. I wear my home jersey (so sweet!!), I have a CBH logo on my coffee mug and my car, they even grace my hipbase call-sign. But again, at home, I was a marginal fan. I suppose when you're a stranger in a strange land, we all have the propensity to talk-up our culture.
