You know Steve, I'm starting to think maybe you know every SINGLE useless fact about this band.... Most people might say sad.. I'm going to go ahead and say you're my hero. Big Grin :thumb: Big Grin

My favorite useless Hip fact:

The band originally wanted to call their 3rd album "Saskadelphia", but the record company deemed it too 'Canadian' and asked them to change the name. So the Hip figured they'd play the ultimate joke on the label and give it a name that was even MORE Canadian (Road Apples). The record company didn't get it. The hockey reference aside, they also didn't realize that by calling it Road Apples, the band was essentially referring to their album as 'horse shit'. Now that's some funny stuff.

I freakin' love this band! :mrgreen:

Credit where credit is due: in the original Escape thread, Rye was the one who submitted this tidbit.

I love the live versions of this song, but I can't believe it's leading the Kingston poll. There's a hundred version of it out there! It was one of the most often-played songs in the two years after PP came out!

Here's the article: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.aheadbyacentury.com/articles/text/fansint.html">http://www.aheadbyacentury.com/articles ... nsint.html</a><!-- m -->

however it is actually "Saskaphiladelphia" not Saskadelphia, but a great story none-the-less.
