I've always liked Fire in the Hole. It's got the edgy punk/metal vibe of The Wherewithal, but a little darker and more menacing. The album version doesn't quite do it justice in my opinion. The live setting is where that song truly comes alive. It's a beast. I remember one version at a show in Calgary that was absolutely jaw-dropping. My friend turned to me after the song and said "that was frightening."

The boys always seemed to enjoy playing Fire in the Hole live. A great high energy rocker. I learned from the Museum After Dark website about the old Hazel Dickens songs of the same name -- which has a few similar lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiGPbHnpQks

I'm with Cochise on this one. While I didn't vote for it and don't hate the song, it'll most likely be my weakest link come next round. I don't know if it's cause they're both song #5 on their respective albums, but I always put Streets Ahead in the same category as Fire in the Hole. I almost always skip the studio version but am pleasantly surprised when I hear them live

I've never heard the actual song before. Great find! I remember Gord used to sing some of those lyrics before the band launched into the song:

Could be wrong, but the "its the song I hate" comes from the 96 Toledo Zoo show. Maybe he did it at others as well, but I think that's the boot where I have heard it from.
