spottrax Wrote:Aug 1993 at Chene Park in Detroit MI. Good show, didn't really convert me but it was entertaining. I didn't seen the Hip again until 1998 at the Toledo Zoo. THAT was the show that sold me...I GOT IT. Been hooked ever since.
I've haf that Toledo show on my phone for about a month now... abdoluetly killer performance. I'm also sure it doesn't hold a canrle to being there.

The Toledo Zoo show (aug 98) was indeed a special one. Chaotic and a little dangerous, the night was beautiful and the band simply ROCKED. We had 10th row main fl, just between GD and RB. Great show. Top 3 of the 17 I have seen!

Nov. 19/1996 @ the Winnipeg Arena. I was 13 yrs old and this was my first concert. I think I've seen The Hip 12 times now but this show and the Phantom Power show in Winnipeg were my two favourites. I really think their live peak was between Fully Completely and Phantom Power. They didn't have the "bar band" sound anymore that was present on UTH and Road Apples and the band had this weird mystique about them. I remember the review in the Wpg Free Press the day after the show in '96 and it described the band as "intimidating" on stage, I think that really fit how intense they were at this time. I wish there was more live footage on Youtube and on the 'net from this era.

1993 - Markham Fairgrounds.

Two nights of absolute craziness! The Hip were supporting the release of Fully Completely and the event totally rocked. My first concert.

I had tickets to the 1996 Henhouse show in Thunder Bay--then had to bail because of a freaking band concert at school. My first time was twelve years ago Sunday at the Minnesota State Zoo Amphitheatre in Apple Valley, Minnesota, which remains the strangest venue I've seen the Hip play. That was concert #1; concert #22 is tomorrow night at Fort Calgary!
