Dude, Ethan Moreau, Ryan Smyth, and Radek Dvorak. These players may not be individually outstanding, but as a team they will help rack up a ton of points. And lets not forget Chris Pronger, arguably the best offensive D player in the game...

If you are counting on Ethan Moreau to be a top-notch offensive player for your team, then you are in big trouble.

anyone know if the shootout goals in the reg. season count towards your goal total?

They won't count.

One scoring change is that goalies will no longer get "L's" for OTLs. The NHL is adding the OTL to goalie stats.

Will a shootout loss also count as an OTL for goalies? or will their be a separate stat for that too.

Also: standings? Let's say in the first ten games, the Leafs win (8-0 over Ottawa on opening night), lose, lose in OT, lose in a shootout, and then win the next six. Is their record 7-1-2 or 7-1-1-1

I'm not 100% certain but I think a shoot-out loss is treated the same as an OTL. So, 7-1-1-1.

BTW, the Sens will beat the Leafs on opening night because it's a meaningless game. Then Captain Alfie will guarantee that he'll have breakfast tomorrow morning.

Seriously though - that Spezza, Heatley, Bochenski (?!?) line looks solid, which works for me since I have Spezza and Heatley in my keeper pool! I mean Spezza's no Ethan Moreau but he'll do.

It's not that I'm too good for predictions, I just wouldn't know where to begin after yes, sidney crosby will be that good...
how many points will the scoring leader score? i have no idea...will refs enforce the rules? i have no idea? will the east be stronger and the west be weaker? who knows.

but it'll be nice to have hockey back. I'm skeptical about my Leafs, but it never hurts to have another diversion.

This will be the year when the Sens FINALLY beat the Leafs. I'd say they're due. I'm gonna go ahead and predict the first all-Canadian final since 1989: Calgary vs. Ottawa.

The Sens won't be able to contain Iggy or defend against the Flames' punishing forecheck. Calgary wins the Cup in 6 games. And just like last year, I think we'll see Kipper serve up a lot of these this season:

Anyway, your prediction of an all-Canadian Cup final has a good chance of coming true. Ottawa has potentially scary offensive talent... I think Heatley (now that he's out of Atlanta) and Spezza (now that he isn't being clamped down by Martin) will have monster years. And they have some great d-men in Redden and Chara. The question is "Dominator Diva" Hasek. If Vegas were to set the over/under on Hasek injuring his groin at 20 games, then I'd take the under... however if he does manage to stay healthy then the Sens are a handful for anyone.

One thing that will be interesting is the increased divisional play. Eight Battles of Ontario? Eight Leaf-Hab games? Eight Battles of Alberta? Hello!!! :thumb:

I got it off a Flames message board during the '04 playoffs. Every time Kipper would stand on his head and backstop the Flames to a close win, the fans would refer to it as a "Kipper Special". Somebody with photoshop and a creative imagination started posting that picture after every win, and it became sort of a tradition.

Cool... it really is one of the neatest pics I've seen in a while. By the way, I'm really going to enjoy watching Calgary games this year (even though it will mean some late nights, being in the Eastern time zone and all)... they have it all, speed, size, toughness, skill, goaltending... I think they will go back to being a lot of people's second favourite team, like they were in their playoff run last time.
