Wow, awesome pics! I finally got around to looking at all of them yesterday, and they really brought the memories back. Thanks for putting them up.

On a side note, did anyone give you a hassle about using the camera? I'm going to catch them again when they play Toledo, OH, and I've been thinking about taking my camera along for some pics of the show. But I don't want to have to worry about hiding it from ushers and the like...

There were no problems at any of the three shows I've been to since the summer. I asked at 9:30 Club over the weekend, and she said anything recordable was allowed - even bigger equipment, tripods, etc. Very cool! But when in doubt, contact the venue directly. Each place is a bit different!

That's the best advice you can take. Be honest! Talk to as many people as possible: the venue, the Hip's Management etc. if you plan on recording their event.

There hasn't been any problems with digital still cameras at any of the shows yet. But better safe than sorry.

Glad you enjoyed them, heavy liquid. No hassles getting the camera in, although I set off the metal detectors big time! I showed my camera, batteries, etc. & no big deal. I was told in advance that it's typically a promoter issue, rathe than the venue, and they just follow the promoter's directive.

However...

I was very concerned at about # 124 that Gordie was gonna come down off the stage and rip it outa my hands! :lol: The repetetive flash had to be buggin' him. Actually, it did seem that he was abit annoyed at first but took it in stride and "played" it a bit. I think that's how I ended up with so many straight-on pics.

Here's a couple from about that point that I somehow neglected to post at fotopic. I'll go through the rest this evening and make sure I didn't snooze on any others.

As far as getting gear into venues, first decision is by the headliner. Then the club. Even if a band says it is ok, venue management have been known to veto their decision - such was the case in Cleveland for video recording equipment.

Yes, there was a guy in the balcony - front row, on Rob's side. He had a camcorder going for most of Sam Roberts, and all of The Hip.

I have no idea who he was, though. I did not recognize him! Hopefully he's on this board and will appear with the goods!!

That's funny you mentioned that you think you might have annoyed him with the flashes, scottitude. I was wondering about that when you mentioned that you used the flash for all of your pics. Glad to hear that Gord went along with it, because you ended up with some great shots.
