Speaking of price...

More then price I'm concerned about the set lists getting mixed up enough.
I recall last tour really not changing it up enough.
So I can deal with the price hike but if it is a carbon copy setlist price will be back in play.

Right on Trevor. Those 2000 shows were awesome. I wonder what Kate Fenner is up to? There were some gems to be heard on that tour and there are some great boots floating around as well. We can only hope for something as special.

You're right I remember those evening's with shows and they were nothing less then spectacular and they did pull gem after gem out night after night.

The way the tour is this year I will be seeing them four times in a about a week.
I hope Gord will be earning his money by brushing up on the old Lyrics he sometimes hesitates with.

Kitchener tickets that I got were $69 each.
so thats $276 for 4 tickets. Came to $332 with ticketmaster ass fucking charges thrown in for good measure.
Still a way better deal than the Leafs.

Paying $300 for a lump of coal would be a way better deal than the Leafs. :lol:

I don't mind paying a higher ticket price so that I can see the band in a smaller venue.

In order for the band to make a living they have to charge a reasonable amount per seat when there aren't that many seats - like most of these venues!

I saw Rush play in the ACC September '07 - I was 3 rows from the rafters - the sound was sooo bad up there that there were many times I had to turn to my buddies and ask them if they knew which song that the band was playing! What a waste of $100.

Now I am going to see them in Massey Hall - Thankfully, I have 4th row - main floor.
But I bet it won't matter which seat you have...for sound quality.

But do the math. Massey hall has 2800 seats. ACC has 15000 seats for a full concert (West end stage).
I would gladly pay $100 to see them in Massey hall over the ACC any day.

As an aside, my wife and I had the pleasure of seeing the band in the Hampton Beach Casino two years ago - maybe 800 people in the crowd - each paying $25 U.S. - what a show! But the boys didn't make much that night! But if they plan on going back there this tour we will make the road trip - no matter how much they charge!

Yeah, I'll admit the prices do hurt, paying for orchestra seats one night and balcony seats the other two nights at the NAC in Ottawa is really setting me back. But I've only seen the Hip a few times, not 30, 40, 50 plus like some people have, so to see them live is still special to me. The high prices do mean that I may have to take some or all of the shows in solo... fine, I can live with that. Plus I've been restricting myself for quite a while now... even though with the nature of my current job I could be out of work by the time the concerts roll around, f*ck it I say, it's time I did something special for me!

I feel for people with families and kids who really want to go but are held back because of the prices. I guess this is one of the advantages of being single that I can enjoy... helps make up for some of the disadvantages of being single!

Under other circumstances I would find it shocking that some of the serious Hip fans like some of us on the base would say "screw it, I've seen them enough, I ain't gonna see them this time"... but I can understand voting with your wallet given the prices, especially if you have other pressing priorities. Though I have to admit, seeing them in a smaller venue with an "Evening With..." type setting with the chance for seriously amazing setlists makes me think it will be worth all the money I'm spending in the end. Oh well, you do what you have to do to get by in this world, right?
