Sorry if this is a really obvious question, but why do you care? I mean, why would you want to pay for bootlegs?

There's a certain charm to finding a disc, with packaging, in a record store. Kinda like looking for hidden gems. Plus, I don't have the time to be downloading stuff all the time, especially when you add in all the frustration that is T100thM lately.

Stephen: What stores in Ottawa are you talking about? I haven't found any, at least in the downtown area. Then again, i *am* pretty stupid....

On Bank Street, there's two right next to each other near the Subway/Internet Cafe in the Bank and Nepean area. You can usually hear them blasting their stuff from the windows... And on Elgin, next door to the ESD, above the Manx Pub.

You mean Record Runner or whatever it's called just off the side, on Cooper.... I've been in there lots to buy used CDs, but have never noticed any boots. Guess I haven't looked hard enough.

The store upstairs (AJs or whatever it was called) is gone now I think, replaced by Rixxx Adult Videos....

People, please don't buy boots. The Hip and many other bands have allowed taping at their shows and are happy for their fans to enjoy the live stuff. However, when this good deed turns on it's head and "fans" start charging $20 and $30 for the boots, it's only going to lead to those same bands to prohibit taping.

Many folks will provide B&T's for you, or the downlloading of live shows is REALLY EASY. I've gotten 4 shows from this current tour alone as well as many others from the past. Check out bt.etree.org which usually has about 3 or 4 good shows available at any given time. peace.

Record Runner is beside Rideau Centre, on the main street...I can't remember what it is, but if you follow it out of downtown, it turns into Montreal Road. Bank Street has five or six indie shops, all well spaced, so it's a pain when you're riding the bus...the last one is right after the highway underpass a few dozen blcosk away from downtown. If you've ever got a whole afternoon to kill, I recommend walking the length of Bank Street to the highway (Queensway?).

You are thinking of Rideau Street. If you follow it the other way, it merges into Wellington, which is where Parliament Hill is.

Bank Street is several blocks from there, almost at the opposite end of the downtown core... Ottawa's downtown is pretty small. If you walk the actual length of Bank Street, you'll end up in the middle of farmer's country though

The record shops described above are sort of near across the street from Barrymore's, a great concert hall that the Hip played years ago and some cover bands occasionally visit And not far from the Civic Centre/Lansdowne Park a.k.a. Frank Clair Stadium (home of the famous 1993 ARA bootleg) that the Hip will soon be playing for both the Grey Cup and a full show a week later.
