I met Gord D, Johnny and Robbie in Groningen this year. We just waited by the bus with a load of other people - it was a nice evening and we all had a really good laugh which made things easier (Oh, while I'm thinking about it - have you got that group photo from that night, chris? I'd love to see it!).
I just echo what everyone else says really, wait by the bus. be patient and be polite. Good luck.

first album is too bluesy not their style anymore ... its kind of almost like their demo disk in that sense ... I'm going to my 25th show next week in Vermont, hopefully I might meet the boys there... This summer before the first Bala show I was eating at a nice little bar/restaurant down the street and Rob and his wife and kid walked in... Being the respectful fan I am I really didn't want to bother them, but I was too exicted and kind of couldnt help myself... I spoke with Rob for a bit at the bar, he was quiet but very nice, got a picture with him and he signed my jersey for me... This year when they were in Halifax a bunch of my friends were drinking with them at Bubbles Mansion the night before the show, I didnt have the money to get out there for the show, my boys won't let me here the end of it ...
Anyone who's going to be at Vermont, see you there, lets hope they keep those good setlists rolling... opiated,eldorado,darkest one played in thier last five or so shows -- I like where the end of this tour is going!

I got to meet Gord D and Rob at the last syracuse show. Both were really cool. I got my ticket signed by Gord D and a picture took with him. While i was waiting for them to come out, two college girls asked me why i was standing behind the Landmark. I told them that the Tragically Hip played a concert here and they were like "Who?" I just laughed and tried to explain who they were.

As far as not asking Gord about his lyrics, I would assume that it's simply an issue of them being personal and better left up to the interpretation of the listener.
As far as not asking the first album...I have no idea. :?

Just dumb luck for me meeting Rob a couple times.
I was in a small guitar shop downtown Kingston when he walked in. The shop is about the size of a bathroom and it was just him and I so we spoke a bit.
Then down in Cleveland in April for the show, my girlfriend and I were at the RnR Hall of Fame in front of the Stones exhibit. I was talking to my girlfriend when I turned around and almost ran right into some guy with long hair....it happend so quickly it took a couple seconds to register who it was. Anyways I spoke to him for a few minutes about the musuem and the show coming up that night. While talking I noticed Gord Sinclair off in one corner and Johnny off in another. I figured they were just on their "down time" so I didn't even bother them. The only reason I spoke to Rob was because I almost ran right into him......
