Great Canadian Albums: Fully Completely
#16

Why do I distrust this new poster who seems to have crawled out of nowhere simply to defend this show and other new poster....

This whole thing stinks, stinks like a bad cover band show...

Actually, we are a fun-loving bunch, if a little touchy about new members who join only to promote their bands, and my comment was light-hearted. Do you really think that I'm about to take arms over the misuse of the word "sardonic?" Are you sure I'm the one who needed to lighten up?

And you're wrong on the diction, too. "Sardonic" is a degree heavier than what we have here. While I'm glad to see that you can use a free online dictionary, you might want to look up "scornful" next. You think the poll choices here qualify as scornful?

You want to see some scorn, I'll be happy to oblige.

Hey, I bought all the albums! And Ive seen over 20 shows! Thats enough for one of the band to have a wild weekend in Vegas right there! Tongue

And how is going to see this lame cover act supporting the Hip anyway?

And just because one or two people maybe overreact or say something negative about a new thread, it doesnt mean the whole Hipbase is bad, this is the web people can and most often say whatever they want, accept it and move on.

Peaaace..

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

"Hey, I know what'll be a great idea!... advertising my bands Hip tribute on a Hip website! what could be more fool-proof than that?" - myself, Jul. 16/2006

I don't have your forums credibility and I obviously don't understand poll etiquette. I was just hoping to appeal to the common interest of the Hip.

I don't need some "newbie" supporting me... it's agreed that seems suspect.

All I know is that while you guys are replying on my use of superfluous adjectives, my post (aka. advertisment) has garnered over 300 views... and any publicity is good publicity.

with those digressions aside.

To those who are suspect of our tribute (understandably so), I present the following points.

a) I'm still here posting/advertising because I know you as Hip fans would appreciate it the most and at the same time would be the most critical listeners.

b) I may not have your websites credibility, but my band will back it up with musical credibility: not only have we been playing together a long time, we are all musicians by trade... this is what we do. If your suspect of us being "another crappy cover band" ask yourself this... how many big time bands got their start by playing cover gigs in crappy bars? ... everyone has to pay their dues, I'm just hoping you'll support independant (Canadian) music and also reserve judgement until you hear us.

c) we chose FULLY COMPLETELY as the first album in our GREAT CANADIAN ALBUMS series not just because we love the music, but also because we have very fond memories of some songs. For me, it was every time I went camping with "the gang" in the late '90's, FULLY COMPLETELY was being blared at four or more campgrounds simultaneously on endless repeat. I know the other guitarist in my band had a soft spot for "50 mission cap" , it was a song he "had" to sing (we're sharing vocal duties).

What about you guys? You must have fond memories of this album or songs... that's why we're doing this. You can stay home and listen to the CD, but there won't be 200 people in your living room singing along.

If you'll excuse me, I have some practicing to do Smile

I'll be back in 5 days to bump this post Wink
