taking a shot at lyrics for drop off:
When the summer’s young
Everybody has to drive sick
No one is no one
And nobody in a Crisis
You don’t go swimming past the drop off
I feel as though ???
You don’t go swimming past the drop off
Or else
You’re a pistol you’re a gun
And suddenly I have no crisis.
I’m like a friend to Dylans, Bob Dylan!
Shovels meeting in some crisis.
Don’t go swimming past the drop off
Yeah we don’t replace ourselves
There’s no swimming past the drop off
Or else
???
past will never please us.
???
Holy fuck it’s jesus.
Seriously screaming
???
???
It only lacks your presence and nothing else
When the summer’s done
And nobody sympathizes
No one is no one
And we won’t see another crisis
There’s no swimming past the drop off
Yeah we don’t replace ourselves
There’s no swimming past the drop off
Or else
???
It only lacks your presence and nothing else, nothing else, nothing else.

my stab from Pittsburgh 06-06-16
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
when the summer's young and nobody has the prizes
no one wants no one and nobody in a crisis
don't go swimming past the drop off
feelin' summer for yourselves
you don't go swimming past the drop off or else
you're a pistol you're a gun and suddenly i have no prices
i'm like a friend at Dylan's (Bob Dylan) and shovels meeting in some crisis
i don't go swimming past the drop off
yeah we don't replace ourselves
there's no swimming past the drop off or else
The best part of life is by measuring gall and the past is meant to please us
johnny's been murdered, the kids are like ??? saying 'holy f*ck it's Jesus'
jerking and screaming and dogging the wings of the lonely irredecent
terribly deep and the cold are still breathing and only lacks your presence and nothing else
when the summer's done and nobody sympathizes
no one wants no one and we won't see another crisis
there's no swimming past the drop off
yeah we don't replace ourselves
there's no swimming past the drop off or else
your breath and the stakes like your raised and you're raised 'til you're strongly discompelling
deep like the sense of the willfully dead says 'forever in the telling'
circles and screams in the dark and the weeds and the lonely irredecent
jiggiling keys in the door that still creaks and it only lacks your presence and nothing else
nothing else, there's nothing else, there's no one else

Awesome attempt at the crazy parts...
I still say its "No one is No one", although yours makes more logical sense, I just can't hear the "wants"
I still think it's "When the summer's young"
But you are right that he says prizes or prices first before crisis.

thanks Cap! i prefer to see it as none of us is wrong or right - we're all in this together. With this tune in particular, only the collective efforts of everyone will decipher what Gord is really saying.
I forgot to add that the last line of the song where I put "??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???" sounds to me something about the a key in the lock and jiggling the door. I'm still trying to pin it down exactly.

i just edited my take to insert Cap's line 'when the summer's young'
also added my line about the key in the door
if you have winamp, use the EQ to bring all 10 dials down completely. take the sixth dial from the left (3K) and crank it to the top, plus bring up your preamp a few db. this seems to help bring out gord's vocals while muting the instruments.

I'm thinking the line is "and pretty soon I have no prices." IIRC, when Gord sung that line in Pittsburgh, he threw his arms up in the air like he was being robbed.

Aw, I'm good at this sort of thing and I can't listen to a clear version.
My wife doesn't like it when I download new programs onto her computer, and I need some sort of program to do a torrent, right? As you can tell, aside from the word processor, email, and blogger I have no idea how to use computers.
What's the easiest way for me to hear a version of the drop-off (other than the download-of-the-week version)?
There's something called Shareeza on this computer but barely anything comes up at all if I search the Hip.
Please be patient with the idiot.
Cheers,
John
