Don't go swimming past the Drop Off... or else.

the drop off is an unbelievable song... anybody who has seen it performed at any of the last few shows can back me up.

sooo much energy... if gords mouth moved any faster i'm pretty sure his face would explode... rest of the band rocks.

this song will be the gem of the new album.

i really hope recordings of the past few shows surface in the next few days... this tune is it.

Hello,
They played this song in Pittsburgh last Friday. It was a great show and this song was played full of energy. The Hip definatgely didn't hold anything back. From the songs I have geard so far the new album will full of hits and be a cover to cover album for sure.
Cheers

I agree with Borgs assesment - this song is going to be a mainstay in the setlists for a long time to come. I was at the Pittsburgh and Lewiston shows this past weekend and both renditions were amazing. Sometime ago someone posted that Bobby had said something about the new songs rocking more - well this one certainly fits that bill. Not sure if anyone caught this in Lewiston, but if you download the video watch the guys playing this song - you can tell that they really love it. Gord S. was jumping up and down and dancing and stuff while he played, a much more candid performance than his usual groove that he works. I love this song - IMO it is the the best of the new three that were played this weekend.

I agree with all of you - this is a great song! I like the other 2 new ones as well but this one just has an extra kick to it. A treat to hear it at all 3 shows this past weekend.

Is it just me, or does Gord say in the fast part "Holy fuck, it's Jesus"? Hilarious.

i loved what i heard in the download of the week, unfortuantely im not going to get to hear it live this tour, but it sounded great. I know the general agreement is that Rink will be the debut single, but i think this will be the song that supports this album the most

As interested as I am in "The Drop Off", I must say that "Fly" has really captured my attention for the day. Maybe I am looking for something more mellow and that would explain said preference. Either way, "Fly" is on heavy rotation. :thumb:

i'm surprized no one has figured out the lyrics yet to this tune

It should be drop off or fly as their single. Rink isn't a very good song as a single.

Who knows, it may not end up being any of these songs as their single. There's still (potentially) 10-11 songs from the album that they could choose from. Months before IVL was released, we got to hear Darkest One, Use It Up, and All Tore Up live, and none of those ended up being the first single. Just a thought.

After hearing Rink live and then repetedly on the Pittsburg boot, I'm digging that song. It's got a cool vibe to it. I think it will grow on everybody. But i like the weird songs anyway.
