I dont have a personal beef with Rogers, Ive been using their internet service for about 3 years now and its been relatively problem free and its worked very well for me. I did use Bell for about a year once and I had lots of troubles with them and I also found them to be jerks, so I guess every company has its problems. Maybe Ive just been lucky?
Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

So... I got an automated telephone message from Rogers yesterday stating that they have confirmed my connection on April 4 (April 1 is what it is supposed to be). The interesting thing about the message was that it said that my current DSL (Sympatico) is compatible in the new building, and all I have to do is let the Rogers installation technician know that I'm keeping Sympatico and he'll set the line up, and let Bell know my location. I just have to keep paying the Sympatico bills...
So in the end, I'm getting Rogers Cable, Rogers Home Phone, Rogers Cable Internet (all free for the first 2 months as a move-in promo) and I can keep my Sympatico.
For all my aggravation and wasted time on the phone with Rogers "customer service" they gave me an extra month of all my services free, paid my current bill of $78.32 and gave me $200 in credits on my account... making it hard to say no to sticking with Rogers for the short term.
While I was typing this post, Bell's Satisfaction Team called me back to say that their engineering team is headed to my building on Monday, and should have a postive answer on Monday regarding ExpressVu for condos, Bell phone service and Sympatico internet.
Tomorrow is moving day and I won't have internet until I'm back at work on Monday. I hope I don't have any more issues.

I just moved into my first home today (glad that headache is over with) so good luck with the move tomorrow Chris....I wouldn't even know where to begin if I was to regail you all with my many tails of woe when it comes to Rogers...they've underperformed and consistently disappointed me time and time again...yet for some strange reason I'm still with them. I guess I just don't want to go through the hastle of changing my cell number and bringing back all of this gear....as Gangrel mentioned, taking care of returns is an absolute crapshoot with these guys.

I think it's the monopoly thing. They treat us like crap, but the only other real alternative is Bell.....
And dont' get me started on the prices! (yes, I know, I choose to pay this much for what I want.... but still, ouch!)

OK. So I'm into my new condo, Rogers sends out a couple of technicians to install my cable TV, internet and home phone. Two really nice guys set everything up, leave me some extra cable, etc....
The cable TV works fine. The modem looks like it's working, but I need to reconfigure my computer so they can't be sure... and besides if it isn't working, I'll have to call tech support because everything regarding the install is OK.
The home phone is able to receive calls, and make calls according to the one test call that they made.
So after the installers leave I get my computer configured and discover that the internet connection isn't working. Instinctively I pick up the phone to call tech support. Surprise, surprise... my phone isn't working. I redial the number 19 times before it finally connects.
Apparently I have a new telephone modem that isn't supported by their network yet. I ask, "Why would you install it if it isn't supported?"
They reply, "We're working on it, and it should be supported soon...."
Frustrated with that, next I ask about my internet. Apparently my connection has not been set-up so I ask, "Why would you schedule an appointment and send out a technician to install something that isn't working?"
Their reply, "That's a good question. I'll open a ticket and pass you through to the office of the president."
After 45 minutes I get through to a very pleasant rep named Andrea who is extremely pissed off about my situation and promises to make it right.
Fast forward to this afternoon. I get a message from Andrea saying that everything is working now. I also have an automated message from Rogers stating the same thing.
Anyone want to guess what happened when I logged onto my computer or tried to make a call????
The internet connection was working, but only at a crawl speed.
The phone was dead.
Thankfully the tech who installed everything gave me his cell number. I called him and he was over within 20 minutes.
And coincidentally, Andrea called to make sure everything was OK and that she could close this issue.
I asked her about the slow internet and she put me on hold to look into it. Ten minutes later she's back with the answer that because I live in a building where everyone is on Rogers, and it is peak time, my connection is going to be slow. I pretty much lose it at this point!
Twenty more minutes on the phone and my 6Mb service is now only costing my 50% of what it should, after my free months of service runs out.
As well, Bell confirmed that they can provide me with service.
I've figured a way around Rogers' traffic shaping for torrents, but they limit you to 60Gb of transfers per month.
I could do that much in a week!

did you not know that this was a rogers-only building when you bought it?
