has anyone ever noticed that on Grammy night, the act that is performing, "usually" ends up winning the award that they are nominated, ....

The exception that proves the rule might be the year Metallica played "One" and Jethro Tull won Best Heavy Metal Album. I wasn't even a Metallica fan and I thought that was... hock:

Okay, yes, it was pretty funny. Unjust as can be, but funny.

What year was that? 1986 or thereabouts? Makes me think that was a political gesture/lifetime achievement award for Jethro Tull. The music and movie industry has never liked conservatives and/or Republicans and Jethro Tull made some great progressive music ala Aqualung and Thick as a Brick.

Funny story about Sum 41. As the story goes the 'roadies' get 5 backstage passes each per show, and the passes have their initials discreetly placed somewhere on them. At the end of the night the band discuss or arbitrarily pick which roadie gave their pass to the hottest broad...or the best fallater...and he gets a 'gold star' or something to that effect. At the end of the concert tour the roadie with the most gold stars wins a brand new Harley. Where do I sign up??

That was 3 years ago when the song One by Metallica was out. The Grammys took a lot of heat for that one.
