It's always cool to see the Hip in there. It's also nice to see people like Matt Mays, Leslie Feist, Sarah Harmer, K-OS, and Ron Sexsmith get a few nominations. However, Celine Dion and Bryan Adams being nominated for artist of the year (again) is totally ridiculous. As with Shania Twain, they're the only Canadian acts who seem to get nominated every year just because of their worldwide popularity. It's all politics and it has absolutely nothing to do with music. That really irks me.
And how the hell did Default get nominated for rock album of the year? That's wrong on so many levels I don't even know where to begin. And don't even get me started on Simple Plan.

*Praying* "Lord, If The Hip can't win, please don't let it be Default. Please. I'll stop touching myself and everything."

I'd promise that too, but I'm sure He can tell the difference between truth and lies

I can't believe Cameron Tomsett wasn't nominated for CD artwork of the year. IBE is one of the coolest album covers I've ever seen, specifically his beautiful portrait of the five band members on the inside sleeve.

Awards like these are horse pucky. They're self-congratulatory back-patting where the industry recognizes people for making lots of money, rather than for creating original work with strong artistic merit.
That's what we're all going to say when the Hip fail to win, so I figure I might as well be consistent.

i predict Billy Talent win group of the year because they're the hot shit that all the kids like right now, but i think the hip are a shoo-in for album of the year, the competition isn't very stiff, and also, the hip are being nice enough to play the show, and you know how these things go, The Hip will win something, and i think it'll probably be this one, if Music@Work was good enough to do it I'm certain that IBE is too.

Avril for "SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR"??? Am I missing something? Since when do pop princesses get nominated for their songwriting abilities??? If Sexsmith doesn't walk away with that award, the Juno's will be forever tarnished. Well, I think the Juno's have been tarnished for about 10 years already. lol

I'm not feeling so positive when it comes to our boys' chances for either of these awards...as much as it pains me to think it, acts like Sum41 and Billy Talent will most likely win. They'll get trotted out on stage all pissed up make a couple half assed snide remarks, give a few people the finger and then leave....come to think of it I'm not so sure Gord wouldn't do the same thing too...but at least it would be cool if he did it!!!
I'm praying to the Juno gods now but I ain't holdin' my breath on this one...
Goulet!!!

Not for crap like the Junos, I wouldn't. The Hip have won a scad of Junos, and not one of them really means a thing. They're more a means of promotion and a mark of success than a badge of merit.
Even the appearance of an "adult contemporary" category at the Junos really only recognizes the emergence of a market.

who cares if they win the junos or not, I don't think that they care. We the fans will see them perform (hopefully alot of songs) and rightfully be inducted into the hall of fame. The greatest band in the world does not need a juno award to cemente their status as the greatest band in the world.
