I'd stand for one or two rare songs, at the expense of, say, playing Courage and Blow and Springtime and BobC (and their ilk) at nearly every show. I know the realities of the thing, and I definitely want to see as much new stuff as possible, but ... well, playing a couple fewer standards would be fine, too. This was a part of the deal the last few tours, when they played multiple nights in a given town, but with only one night per city on this U.S. tour, I'm beginning to think we'll only see variations on the sets they've been playing last summer.

I agree. I definitely wouldn't like to give up the chance to see some of the new songs live and when a band just released an album, that's what I expect. And I know the Hip have to please those that only know 5 Hip songs as it is, so you can't replace NOIS, BobC, Blow, etc. with rarities. But I wish if the Hip would just take out 1 (or 2) of the standard songs and throw in an older tune that they'd like to mess around with again. I don't think that would be too much to ask.

In the end, though, I'm just glad to be seeing the Hip next week. I'll rock out to New Orleans and Meridian with the rest of 'em.

Not that I'd like to see NOIS or Springtime shelved, but Three Pistols is one of the Hip greats and they just don't play it anymore. Maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised. Anyway, can't wait to see them in Toronto regardless of what they play!!!
