good luck guys, you arent going to hear most of that stuff...IF ANY. Not even in their hometown of kingston, well escape i guess....
here's what i think about the whole "what we want to hear thing"...i'd love to hear all those "lost classics" as well, but what new material would be lost because of it...some bands tour for a new album, and only play about 2 or 3 tracks from the new disc...some people would say that's a great thing, me on the other hand not so sure...it'd be great to say the hip could play 3 hours a night, but that ain't happenin...so would we rather have less off the new cd played for the sake of older classics? or do they stop playing the older "classics", and risk pissing off the people who may not be familiar with the obscure songs...it's gotta be hard to please everyone all the time, but i for one go the shows thinking the new songs are the "rare" songs as i've never heard them live before...just some random thoughts
I'd stand for one or two rare songs, at the expense of, say, playing Courage and Blow and Springtime and BobC (and their ilk) at nearly every show. I know the realities of the thing, and I definitely want to see as much new stuff as possible, but ... well, playing a couple fewer standards would be fine, too. This was a part of the deal the last few tours, when they played multiple nights in a given town, but with only one night per city on this U.S. tour, I'm beginning to think we'll only see variations on the sets they've been playing last summer.
In the end, though, I'm just glad to be seeing the Hip next week. I'll rock out to New Orleans and Meridian with the rest of 'em.
