Tthip Wrote:Hey cheney50mc, where did you hear Put It Off as an opener?

you know the one:
'put it off...put it all off...save everything for later.'

I guess I meant 'use it up'

My favourite opener is the Gift Shop from 96-06-29...it just starts as a tiny guitar pluck piercing through the crowd noise, builds slowly, Gord's voice begins weakly and then gathers strength by the end of the first line, and after the first verse it just explodes. Best opener ever.

I can totally see how Gift would be a chilling opener. Wow!

I've seen some of the setlists for the US shows that started with Makeshift, which I can't quite see, and some with You're Everywhere, which I can see a little more... but I still can't see how you can top Grace as an opener.

Just my $0.02

I would love to hear Blow At High Dough as an opener - with that opening riff, it would just rock.
Another cool one is what someone from another board told me.
Walk out on stage, start jamming for a couple minutes and then break into Daredevil.

Man, spontaneously breaking into Daredevil would be the most killer opener. That old equilibrium would indeed start to spin and spin.

Josephine would be a great opener. picture it....

the house lights go out. the band walks on stage and gord d steps up to the mic. a single white spotlight shines on him as he starts to sing "i remember a girl on her cellphone"... he sings likes this until Jonnhy's kicks in with his drums... as he does that, the house lights all light up and the band takes off..

that would be fucking killer!

Haha I can hear it, nice work man.

Yeah they will prolly start with VS on 95% of shows in Canada, just like they did in the US. A lot of songs would make sweet openers, but it all depends on what mood the band is in as to which song would make the best opener.

I love Grace and Poets and Scar as openers, but there are some others I'd love to see them start with:

Thugs
Vaccination Scar
Sharks
Vapour Trails
Twist My Arm
IOD
At the Hundredth Meridian
Three Pistols
Highway Girl
Don't Wake Daddy
Boots or Hearts
Trickle Down
