I usually cross at the 1000 Islands Bridge, and many times, I am the only car there...bad part = I have to leave at 8 in the morning to be at Drez's campsite for 2pm. Ah well. It's the Hip, it's Darien Lake...for all you first timers, you'll never forget this one.

But...if you're walking back to your campsite, they actually open gates at the back of the concert venue, and anybody can walk in our out of the park as they please.
And yes...North of Watertown...they have a great Cracker Barrel in Watertown...that's one chain that never caught on here. Mmmm, can't wait for the Cracker Barrel.

On the contrary...we have encountered 2-4 hour waits. (Several times)
I guess you never know..just leave in plenty of time.

If you get to Darien Lake parking by around 2-3, try to park straight back near the EXIT sign. You can get out of there in 10 minutes if you are a couple of rows from the exit sign. Otherwise expect a long delay. Also, try my short cut back to the thruway:
Left out of the parking lot
left on first street (Colby) although the sign says go right to get to the thruway (they just want everyone to take the mainroad!)
left at end (33) and quick right (Boyce)
Take Boyce to end and make left on RT. 5 and right on Rt. 77
Thruway entrance is right there.
At DMB (sold out over 20,000) I was out of the lot in 10 minutes and on the thruway in another 20 min.!

If getting out of the lot concerns you at Darien, which it could be a problem...I've sat around for 2-3 hours after a show without even moving...try parking in the private lots off of Sumner Road (which is just off 77, it costs 5 bucks, they have a restroom for use and it is a quick out. It is located just before the security checkpoint. I notice people always take advantage of this and can tailgate here too with zero hassle. You will see the people trying to flag concert goers in from the side of the road. It is a good idea, kind of like what they do at Buffalo Bills games on people's lawns.
Parking with a ticket is free, BUT if you want to hit the road quick, you might want to spend the extra 5 bucks and park on Sumner Road, plus it is only a few minutes walk to the front gates of the Performing Arts Center...good luck to all those in their after show exit experiences...I've gotten out in like 10 minutes sometimes and wanted to shoot myself other times.
