When was the last time any members of the band were in contact with former Hipster Davis Manning?

Would they ever consider playing a live show with him as a guest for a couple songs?

I know for a fact that Davis was in contact with Gord Sinclair in 2000.

I helped him release the Copperpenny Restaurant recording on his behalf just prior to the December 2000 show in Ottawa.

In the fall of 2000, I built a website, and converted to MP3 a recording he had from that evening. I also created a downloadable cover that could be printed.

For my efforts, Davis surprised me with a backstage pass to the December 6th 2000, Ottawa show.

Davis had met up with The Hip backstage in BC, on the western leg of their tour, and he gave them a copy of the recording with the artwork I created. He then requested a backstage pass for me from Gord Sinclair.

Whether he has been in touch with them since then, I have no idea.

As far as playing with them... Davis answered some questions as part of a FAQ on the website, and the final question was:

Q: If Asked to, would you ever play with the band again?
A: You never know what may happen. We're talking about over 15 years ago, when I was with them. In those days they were just boys, and now they are journeymen with families. There are plenty of hot sax players in their home-town if they need one.

I still have the original CD that Davis sent me, which I am assuming is first gen from the source cassette that was used to record the show that night.

Davis told me that I was one of only 7 people that were in possession of that recording when he sent it to me to be included on the copperpenny website. Himself, and the other 5 members of the Hip were the only other people in possession of that recording until December of 2000.

That is quite a collectors piece you have there.

I realize how rare your copy is, but it can't hurt to ask.
