#61

Price is having a good game tonight..But not the pants-wetting experience that Bob Cole is making it out to be. What a douche

That's usually the case. When Price has easy games, his supporters use stats as a gauge of his greatness, but when he lets in a few goals, it is more a result of bad circumstances (ie rest of the team's fault) than poor play. :what :what :what

So I shouldn't be a fan of a team because of the lack of "legends"??

I'm not denying the history of The Habs..I'm talking about the bullshit commentating of Bob Cole and a whole other bunch in the media

I agree there is a lot of hype around Price and Bob Cole’s “I can’t believe the ubermensch is only 20…” is wearing thin - but country lovin Carey was the difference in the 1st period last night - it could easily have been 4-1 Bruins at the end of 20min.

Now bring on Philly (or the Rangers)

Seems pretty clear that you were pretty upset last night that the Habs won, which might explain your inability to read. I'm the guy who said Price single handedly blew game 5 for his team, and "performed miserably." That must be one a them excuses that ain't in the book, Cletus.

I remember watching St. Patrick's run to the cup in 86. Roy got the same media hype that Price is now getting, but he wasn't always perfect, either. In the fall of 87, I lived down the hall from a Jr. B goalie who told me that Roy was a shitty goaltender, that everybody had figured out how to score on him now, and that Roy would never again post good enough numbers to catch anyone's attention. It was all hype, he said, and anyone who knew anything about goaltending -- i.e., my neighbour the goalie -- could see that.

Twenty-one years later, that guy looks kinda stupid, which is what tends to happen to people who react to hype by taking an extreme contrarian position.

Tim Thomas was the better goalie in this series. He was more consistent, never had the bad mental meltdown that Price did. Price wasn't able to shake off a setback in game 5, and he gets overconfident handling the puck and gets himself in trouble. But Price still had a marginally better save percentage, and posted two shutouts. Thomas might have been better in this series, but Price is going to be better over his career. It may be annoying to listen to commentators hyping him as the second coming, but if you're going to pretend he's not a first-rank goaltender, you're going to look like my neighbour in 87.
