Match-up #16 - Put It Off Vs. It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken
I ask you to listen to the two songs in the match-up Back to Back, and consider the lyrics of the song. Feel free to post an unbiased analysis of both songs in this thread, but please refrain from cheerleading or making predictions for your favourites.

even though im pretty sure the song intends the opposite

My first thought was that in an ideal tournament I wouldn't want to see either of these songs make it to the 2nd round. But once I listened to both, I realized that these are probably two of the best examples of the Hip's celebration of mildly obscure Canadiana, and that made it harder to choose.

You don't see an Eric's Trip reference every day, that's for sure.

Personally, I just don't "get" Put It Off. It is too repetitive for my taste. I'm not preaching, I'm just saying what I don't like.

I guess I equate the comparison of these two songs to which of the two I would like to hear live, or which of the two I would like to hear driving home from work. And the winner is...

It's a good life is one hell of a song.

IVL is one hell of an Album. Shows that they aren't scared to make the music THEY wanna make.

Fair enough. Regardless, I liked the album and plenty of songs on the album.

Thats cool. I was in the same boat as you...I just wanted to read it, but was worried about coming accross like I was calling you a liar or something.

It was a good read. The article was very interesting. IVL does really have a clunky feel to it, but it's really grown on me.
