Chris, Mark.... how many camera angles on the Phoenix shows?
1 balcony, 1 front, 1 sound board?

Hmmm.... We could probably get at least 6 angles based on who I know will be attending - assuming we can all get tickets, of course.
Maybe we could go for an even 10;
2 stationary on stage
1 balcony walkway
2 balcony seats
1 soundboard
1 at left speaker stack
1 at right speaker stack
1 in DJ booth watching the crowd
1 handheld by Gord D

Just read here: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.buckbrothers.net/news2.html">http://www.buckbrothers.net/news2.html</a><!-- m --> (about 1/3 of the way down)... it says that the Phoenix's capacity is 4500. I wouldn't have thought it was that high??? Althought it's been a while since I've been there.

chris Wrote:I'm confused. Why do all ages gigs suck once you're older? I actually think that they are better. Many of the drunks stay away from the front stage as they can't bear to be that far away from their next drink; and the enthusiasm of younger fans can be infectious. As well, The Hip's original fanbase is getting to an age where they might want to bring their children to a concert - and all-ages allow that to happen.
It weeds out some (not all, by any means) of the stupid people. I suppose this is less of a problem with the Hip than newer bands, but I could do without being surrounded by screaming, underdressed 15-year-old girls ever again.
I'd say my main, slightly selfish reason for liking 18/19+ shows is that the vast majority of attendees don't really care about much outside of the booze, making it possible for me to just wander right up to the front when doors open without lining up for two days beforehand.
Plus it's harder to get tickets for AA shows. Kids are better than old people at using this here internet.

I just read a couple of other places that it is 1100 capacity... that seems more like it. Wonder how many tickets will be available to the presale?

Not a chance that they can fit that many people in there. I'd say it's more like 1,500 people.

They won't get much more then a grand in that place. 4,500 is way off base.

Dam, I wish I had known earlier, I would have taken my vacation that week in October. I like the "evening with" concept thats awesome to see again. Im just a little dissapointed that its only in a few cities. I was hoping for a London show again, hopefully this is just the begining of whats to come. As it stands I can probably only do the Sunday show, maybe...that week is gonna be tough. Sacrifices might have to be made..why did I get married!!!

Jam stated for the Rolling Stones shows that were held there - that the capacity was 1100.
"The Phoenix has an 1,100-person capacity and a permanent stage, but sources said the front has been extended to accommodate the four Stones -- singer Mick Jagger, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarists Keith Richards and Ron Wood -- as well as their side musicians."

That's more like it. This article says 1,000 when it's packed: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/Artists/D/Dylan_Bob/ConcertReviews/2004/09/29/648848.html">http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/Artists/D/Dyl ... 48848.html</a><!-- m -->

So if it's 1100 we probably can't hope for much more than a couple hundred for the presale...

I'm guessing the presale will work the same as Belleville? You logon and click on "The Tragically Hip Tour and Ticket Info" link on the top right of the main page? Then keep hitting refresh until the link and password appears? Also... I wonder if it will be the same password for all the shows...

I am hoping for at least two Calgary shows! If I win some cash and can take the holidays I'll be in for all four! Could be tough with a nine month old.
