go philly, i hate the pats there like the new york yankees of football. anyway should be a good game (hopefully).

tragicallymike - 01-25-2005
i hate the pats too but what you said makes absolutely zero sense. Maybe you meant the exact opposite of the yankees?

Maybe he meant like the Yankees of the '50s and '60s? Because they certainly won all the time (giving rise to the famous quote "Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for U.S. Steel.").
Otherwise I agree that the Patriots are different than the Yankees... the Pats are almost devoid of "superstar" players, while the Yanks are overrun with them. But both teams sure do win a lot... and are VERY unpopular outside of their fan base... I mean, do you ever hear someone say "the Pats/Yanks are my second favourite team."?

If the Eagles win the Super Bowl, how many of us are you having over for the party? If it's less than 200, let me know... I'll need to cancel the Salsa wagon.

Jenna_Bird - 01-26-2005
Seeing as my room can only hold about 20 people (and that's if they hang from the sprinnler pipes), the salsa wagon is a no go.

However, if you want to spring for the pizza cart (Sizzler style!), I'd be fine with that.

The Superbowl...NE does look pretty unbeatable right now, what a team. I'm on the Philly bandwagon because of McNabb, he's been one of my favorites since he left Syracuse for the NFL, he's a standup guy and I hope he can get Philly a championship, because the city has no other team anywhere near a championship excluding the Flyers, but you know, the NHL doesn't exist....
But if I were a betting man, which I am, I'd take the Pats and the points (-6)...
NE 30 Philly 17.

I meant that they're like the yankees in that they always win, and they're the team everyone hates, but its true the structure of their team is nothing like the yankees

Do you think T.O. will play?
-
Jenna_Bird - 01-26-2005
I saw a headline on yahoo that he might "defy medical orders" and play anyway. Seeing as I don't know what the piece had to say, I'm not sure. Since Lewis is out, here's hoping!!

Owens will almost certainly not play, and even if he does he won't be a factor. All this attention he's getting right now is unbelievably ridiculous.

hock:
Really? You think a guy like TO will miss the Super Bowl?
I disagree. Who knows if he'll ever get another chance, and that's just too sobering a thought for his tremendous ego. I bet he plays whether or not he's medically cleared.
I heard that he was running too fast on the TM this week, and trainers had to advise him to slow it down...
-
KittieKatFish - 01-27-2005
I think he'll play, but its really Andy Reid's decision. We shall see.
-

I suppose you're right, but ususally, head coaches defer to team doctors for medical decisions.....
