But Jimmy Swift Band (Halifax) , Slowcoaster (Sydney), and Grand Theft Bus (Somewheres in NB), are all great jam bands.

P.S.- Tenacious D are gods. I consider them very talented and good song writers. Don't be blinded by the fact that it's humor, it's still great music, and JB's voice guitar gimick is wicked. Definately one of my favorite bands.

good call on the jam bands wheat king. i'm especially fond of JSB (formerly PF Station) and Slowcoaster...awesome live shows! :thumb:

LOVE the Constantines! I saw them last spring on the Rolling Tundra Revue tour with the Weakerthans. One of the best double-bills I've ever seen. "Tournament of Hearts" was my favorite Canadian album last year.

ROSALITA..by Gomez...

Rosalita's crawling round the knees
Rest my head, she's calling to me
In my dreams she's there for me
But open my eyes to see you there
I am falling

Sweetness, since you left me
It's been your flag I'm flying
But I'm sick of crying
Why did you choose to deceive me?
Was your plan just to kiss, fuck and leave me?
So, considerately, just please talk to me
I won't portray myself so pitifully
My little conceit, you see
Is that I will never need you more than now

Rosalita's walking out on me
Close the door, she's stalling, I see
She's so sweet, but not for me
But as we sit around and laugh about
She's trying to call me

Darling, though you hurt me
It's not from my lack of trying
You've got a fear of flying high
You have lost your patience
I see myself sink in your estimations
Forget the salutations
Just please study these tears
Your bitter words they just confirm my fears
Gonna let it fuck up all the years
Yet I will not need you more than now

Beautiful bitch, I could consider this a simple glitch
You're just a hopeless stitch in time
But then for your crimes
Please find yourself a little guilty with these lines
Got your conscience on my mind
Because I could not need you more
Oh, I could not need you more
Yeah, I could not need you more than now
Could not need you more than now

that's why i think everybody should listen to these guys..do yourself a favour and go listen to this song!!

That's cool!

He seemed to genuinely appreciate the crowd. I remember at one point someone yelled out "Thank you Ben" and he looked in his direction and said, "No, thank you."

He's definitely on the list of artists I'd like to take my son to see once he's a little older.

EDIT: corrected a spelling mistake before tommygunn felt the need to point it out.

I would have to go with Louis XIV.

It's not a really original sound or anything, but the music is fun and they are great musicians. Seeing them live made me a huge fan. They have definately worked hard and spent a lot of time on the road, it can been seen and heard in their live shows. If you get a chance, you should really check them out.

I've gotta thank you all for opening my musical eyes and ears to The New Pornographers and The Weakerthans....I feel rather ashamed admitting that I hadn't heard any of their music before and I've gotta say that I've been blown away. The Weakerthanks have a great thing going on, very smart lyrics and a distinct sound...and The New Pornographers, wow, what can I say...Neko Case is really something else...they're just awesome. I'll look forward to seeing them at Bluesfest this year in Ottawa.

Thanks again...
