I'll see if I can dig up the old interview.
I am not sure how it was exactly worded but the interviewer asked about producing themselves and 'breaking up" was mentioned, and from the tone of it, it was more than a tongue in cheek comment.
I'll see if I can find it, with the new Hip.com it is hard to see some older album interviews.

There. I changed my avatar. I'm sure that I'll be all cheery from now on. :what

Maybe consider that this is what they want. I don't think the label is choosing Bob Rock, or their recording venue.

And are they really becoming more commercial? In View was the lead single, and did have a bit of a hook for radio. But otherwise, not a whole lot off of World Container struck me as commercial or trying to appeal to a new fanbase. I've only listened to the track on the web site once (tyring to wait for the whole album) but it does not sound very commercial either (ie. garnering a lot of radio play).

A) Tickets to everything are expensive and will always be expensive.

B) People can say what the want I guess. I mean, it is heated... but the boards have been more interesting these past couple weeks than ever since the last album / tour. I disagree with people bitching, but if they want to, I guess they can.

Also, a lot of times I have an opinion that is the complete opposite of people here, and get called out. So what? Case-in-point; 99% of the trash that tiger comes up with I don't care for... but at least he's saying what he thinks. I met tiger before, and it was only for before and after a hip show. Clearly i don't know the guy well, but he seemed alright that night. And since Lizard came back, the pot has been stirred more... and thank god. The most active thread for years here has been The Song Of The Day... which doesn't seem to generate much discussion these days.

If people want to vent, let them. No one is forcing you to read their posts.
No one is forcing you to read this post.

The best thing everyone can do for themselves right now is to sit back, relax in any way you relax, and throw on some Live From The Vault... Volume 3 is kicking muh ass right now.

Nice. :?

The fact that you think an olp album has promise is hillarious.

the fact that you dont like OLP doesnt concern or bother me.

And here is another great idea:
For the upcoming moe. tour you can purchase a copy of the concert you are attending, the same night.
When the concert that night finishes you head over to the hand-out area and they hand you a copy of the show on a USB drive. In the future they will be adding tour pictures and other audio to the drives.
They only have one duplicator right now so you get a tracked MP3 at 128, but in the future they are hoping to go to higher or to FLAC.
And they are only $15.

That is a great idea...Collective Soul did that a few years ago but they put the show on cd's and they were ready when you walked out of the venue

Black Crowes had done the same through Instant Live -- now they run their own site, with almost all new shows posted within the week and available for download (flac or MP3) or you can buy a hard copy. They're also releasing an archive show per week.

Pearl Jam did that after their most recent our that brought them through Canada. Went to the show in Ottawa. The next morning the show was available from their website for download (FLAC or MP3) along with any other show from the tour. It's a great idea - love it!

Re: STOP THE BITCHIN! - tth_fan - 03-19-2009

That does sound really awesome! Wish that was the deal with the Hip! It would save me the hassle of tracking down somebody who's recording it (with decent equipment) and setting up a trade! I like owning shows I've been to :thumb:

Re: STOP THE BITCHIN! - WesleyC. - 03-20-2009

Yup I got the Pearl Jam show from the Kitchener Aud. It was so cool to get the show after you have been to it. One of mine and my wifes fav live cds that we still listen to. I recall it was only $10 to download the show in mp3 formatt.

Re: STOP THE BITCHIN! - EPenguin10 - 03-20-2009

The Swell Season and Iron & Wine offer (nearly) all their live shows on http://www.playedlastnight.com shortly after the concert, for 10 USD.
