There has been too much bitchin goin on around here latley. If ticket prices are too much, dont go, its that simple. I know it may be hard as I would also love to be able to see Canada's band and my favourite band play as much as my funds will allow me, and if thats just one kick ass show, so be it. for the past couple albunms ive gone to as many Hip shows that I could make it to (like many of you) but we are at the dawn of a new album and it should be a happy time, not one where we become separated because of money. and its been seeming to me that people are looking for something wrong to complain about and given the history of the band this doesnt make sense to me... be grateful for the opportunities we've been given so far.
this is one of the few occasions where i hope that the Hip DOES NOT hear about, or read, what their most die hard fans have been saying. I have also noticed that Mav has not posted anything for some time now and I hope its because he is too busy trying to please us instead of resenting the fact that we are not grateful for what he and the band has done for us.
As far as all of the pre-sale options go, it does piss me off slightly that there are so many ways to purchase this album and each way has its own beifits. i would much rather these bonus songs be ALL available through thehip.com but even though im not a telus subscriber i still think my oportunity will come to listen to these songs. just be thankful thatr we are aware that these songs exist and we have the potential to hear them.
now i am just begining to realize that this drunken post is rambling on and kinda contradicts the title, so im done for tonight...
goodnight all!

Yeah this Massey Hall show is actually cheaper than the ACC show back in 07 where I spent like 140 a ticket but it was an awesome show and the money didn't matter, it kept me happy for more than 2 years now. So 200 once every few years is a fantastic investment on my part. Especially considering how the Hip have been such a massive part of my entire life.
Im also kinda jaded about the multiple ways about buying the album. The second I saw that it would be "mailed" on the week of the 7th made me say "screw this im buying it in stores". I just gotta get the album the second it hits the shelves. So thats the only option for me. I hope they give us album buyers some "incentives".

I like The DEAD also, and their ticket prices are also $100 per show. Everyone is bitching over there too. I do think it sucks, but these are the times we live in. Oh well, I'm still catching 3 Hip shows and 2 Dead shows, life goes on.

I was a little dissapointed about the site crashing,it took me about 25 minutes before i figured it out. Thanks to this forum and those who shared the password.I got caught up trying to get the site to work when it dawned on me that someone here would have info.Prices at small venues are usually higher and i for one would rather pay the price to actually see the band, rather than pay less and be a football field away looking at a jumbotron!I think the intentions of the site were very cool, even though there was a glitch.I appreciate what Mav and the band do for us.If you really want be pissed about somethig go to Ebay and just look at the buy it now prices these scalpers are chargeing.Basically they got the better seats merely to turn a profit. That is sad, because a true fan did not get them the right way.I can see if you bought extra thinking friends would go,but than could'nt,and started the bidding at face value. But $1500 buy it now prices for 4 tickets? Those are the people you should be bitchin at not the band!

If you don't like the bitching, then don't read it. Simple as that. :rambo:

Is no one else going to point out the irony behind the fact that the "STOP THE BITCHIN'" thread is just another place for people to bitch?
Bitching about bitching is like bombing for peace. Or F*cking for virginity.

I think this is part of what he's calling bitching. You assume you got what you paid for with 24 songs and were shortchanged with 21. Maybe you got your money's worth with 21 songs and the band gave you a bonus with 24. It's a dumb thing for me to quibble over, I know - but my assumption is just as rational as yours...and far less whiny.

and the last time they did a Evening with Tour they were pumping out what 28-30+ songs I believe - not 21, 22
It's an evening with and the lower end $50 ticket high up in a small venue is better than $50 to sit high up in the NHL Arenas - at the back.

I for one would like to apologize if people feel that my posts in other threads were me "bitchin." In actuality I am not pissed at The Hip but rather promoters and managers and agents who allow a band that has always been about bringing music to the "music lovers" to have ticket prices that bring music to the "music lovers who can afford it." The reason I love The Hip is that during my teenage years and college years there music spoke to me and I was able to have a number of up close and personal concert experiences for the money I had at that time. But now the only way to attend these shows is to buy 4 or 5 tix sell off all but 2 of them and then make enough money for the travel and ticket. I don't believe for one second that the boys sat around the Bathhouse while they were recording this album and said "Hey I got this cool idea. When the album drops we should have 8 million different ways to buy it and give 8 million incentives to buying it in the different ways. Then we'll do a tour where we'll play multiple nights at the same venues charging twice as much as tours in the past." That didn't happen and we know it didn't. People complaining are just upset that they don't have the financial security to be able to participate in a thing they love so much. I LOVE the hip and I LOVED the last Evening With show that I saw. But I don't have the money to drop on a show. I've resigned myself to the fact that, although I've spent 18 months since the last time I saw the hip counting the days til the new album and the new tour, I won't be able to attend and I will likely not be able to ever see the hip play again as I will need to spend my limited funds on my family as most fiscally responsible people would. It's a fact of life that things change and apparently our concert going experiences will be changing over the next few years.
