Put me down for the Weakerthans as well. Incredible band.

Dah...I was gonna say the Weakerthans.
Amazing guys they are...apparantly Johnny K is playing here in Winnipeg for a anti-racism benefit concert or something, local "hero" Westwood is also involved in that somehow
But yeah...the Weakerthans...really surprising to see that Aside got onto the Wedding Crashers soundtrack, played during the credits. Plus...you can't forget Gordie's "Aside" verse during Grace at the Junos
The Weakerthans have so much potential to really become a big-name band. Their music is so deep and...relateable. Really good stuff.

The Bottle Rockets- Guitarist/Lead Singer was a tech for Uncle Tupelo/Wilco.
Porcupine Tree- Steven Wilson is just amazing
Blackfield & No Man- Wilsons's projects
Hank III- Sounds like his grand dad but rocks live

I would love if everyone could listen to the Sadies! Not only hear them, but see them live. If you have seen them, you are the lucky one.

Guster... definitely, but not so much with their newest music. New CD out in April, and I might pass on it... I own all of their albums, drove from Toronto to Portland, Maine and back in a span of 36 hours to see a show that was being recorded for a DVD... but their new stuff is not for me.
Howie Day... great singer/songwriter. His current release (form 2003) has sold more than a million copies, but he's still playing small venues and doing the college circuit.
Both of these bands have lots of great live shows available on archive.org for free download.
Speaking of great bands and free downloads; Matt Mays is the iTunes Canada Free Single Of The Week this week - Time Of Your Life ('til You're Dead)

My current vote would go to The Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir. I love that disc The High Cost Of Living Low.

Hank Williams III is absolutely unbelievable. to be able to mix country and metal like that just astounds me. he's a new brand of rebel. have you seen him live?
he played the club where i was working about five years ago and blew the sound system - twice! misfits covers, metallica covers, original metal, original country and country covers - i thought it was fantastic.
i got to speak to him for a bit and his stage persona is nothing like his off-stage personality. he's very humble, soft spoken, and easy to talk to.
good call on the III :thumb:

incredible matt mays tune, as always! they end almost every show with that one - wailing away on the guitars...an incredible finisher...definitely check out this tune if you haven't heard it.
matt mays & el torpedo...another good call! :thumb:

I haven't seen them live yet, but I'm really starting to get into The Constantines. I don't think they've achieved the level of notoriety they deserve yet, so they would be my pick.

I just love this band - their live shows are amazing.
A jam band that can play the crap out of their instruments.
I guess I would compare them to Phish, although I do not like Phish.
Moe. is great, but ween are gods

I'm from NS, but i'm not a Wintersleep fan, too dark for me.
But Jimmy Swift Band (Halifax) , Slowcoaster (Sydney), and Grand Theft Bus (Somewheres in NB), are all great jam bands.
P.S.- Tenacious D are gods. I consider them very talented and good song writers. Don't be blinded by the fact that it's humor, it's still great music, and JB's voice guitar gimick is wicked. Definately one of my favorite bands.
