great thread

IBE - Copanhegan, Family, Josephine

PP - Fireworks, Vapour and the rules.

- j-monster - 01-17-2005

Tough call!

I'll go with DD, Greasy, Yawning.

Could also do Membership, Fireworks, Vapour Trails... or We'll Go Too, FC and 50MC.

great thread...

obviously i can't narrow it down to just one...

henhouse - lets stay engaged - sherpa - put it off
DFN - IOD - scared - inch an hour
FC - elderado - we'll go too - fully
RA - little bones - twist my arm - cordelia... or... 3 pistols - fight - on the verge...

... special mention to beautiful thing - dire wolf - dark canuck.

- The Heron Outside - 01-18-2005

Good thread indeed.....is there any doubt though, after the grace/daredevil/greasy opening to Day For Night that it's nothing short of a masterpiece?

That's a great point!
grace/daredevil/greasy for me too... with honourable mentions going to nautical/thugs/IOD.

and well, every combination of three in a row I can think of really. Smile

Fire in the Hole, So Hard Done By, Nautical Disaster...by some distance, mainly 'cos I rate the latter two as among the very best Hip songs, period.

I notice that most people nominate 'Thugs' rather than 'Fire' here, but I prefer the utter madness of fire to the throbbing grooves of Thugs.

Yer Everywhere, Makeshift, Mean Streak always mows me down, too.

- cougar_trader - 01-18-2005

Very tuff to only pick three
Grace, Too - Fire in the Hole - 100th (All live)
Wheat Kings - Scared - Cordelia (Studio)
Highway Girl - IOD - Use It Up (Old to New)

I think I'll burn that as a CD for the ride to work everyday. It's about a 3 song drive.

Great post !!!

So Hard Done By - Nautical Disaster - Thugs

Don't Wake Daddy - Flamenco - 700 Ft. Ceiling

- hiplover1 - 01-18-2005

I've got a three song ride to work.
I tend to listen to:

Grace, DD, Greasy and Chagrin, Escape, Penguin but...

You only get to pick one. Yes, that's proving very difficult.
I'd have to go with

IOD, Scared, Inch.

jay stains Wrote:apartment song, coconut cream, let's stay engaged

wow! bold selection. I dig it.

I'd go with a little Thugs/Inevitability/Scared.

(Or maybe a little Nautical/Thugs/Inevitability.)

(Or hell, So Hard Done By/Nautical/Thugs.)

damn what a fine album,
CT

(p.s. I'd be all over beautiful, dire, dark if beautiful were leave; and I'd pick everywhere, copenhagen, family, if family were josephine)

- jonprice34 - 01-18-2005

this is tough to call but I will go with Fire in the hole, So hard Done By, Nautical or if I get a second pick I will go with Little Bones, Twist My Arm and Cordelia, that's a great way to start an album

- Problem Bear - 01-19-2005

Evelyn, Cemetery, Werewolf.

Just kidding.

I'd have to go with:
Any of the three three-song combinations you can get from So Hard Done By to Scared
or
Any of the four three-song combinations you can get from Lake Fever to Freak Turbulence

That's sort of narrowing it down . . .

Cheers,
John

This is the absolute easiest "favorite song" type of question asked of me yet:

Bring It All Back / Three Pistols / Fight

Any challenging trio would suffer a KO in the first round. But for the fun of it, some other notable trifectas would include:

So Hard Done By / Nautical Disaster / Thugs, or for that matter, Thugs / Inevitability of Death / Scared

Let's Stay Engaged / Sherpa / Put it Off

Vapour Trails / Rules / Chagrin Falls, or Chagrin Falls / Escape / Penguin (a popular choice, for good reason)

Lake Fever / Putting Down / Stay (this one is VERY solid)

Gus / Vac Scar / Nashville
