I don't hate the players. I admire the players. I hate a management with unlimited money that pulls together the best dozen players in the league and then claims that they're successful. See, what I fundamentally don't understand about Yankee fans is the "substance" factor. ANY team in any sport could be the best team in their sport if they have unlimited money to buy up all the best players. So where are the stakes? Where's the excitment of raising talent in-house? Where's the young guys who bring passion and heart to the game and learn from their mistakes? What's the point of bringing together work-a-day veterans who already do everything almost perfectly? Where's the fun? Where's the challenge?
To me, just winning isn't enough. If power and money were all that impressed me, and I honestly believed the mightiest, richest people are the best, I'd have moved to the States and become a Republican. No offense to any people who are...I'm just saying, I don't understand why Yankees fans are Yankees fans because the only thing the Yankees have that other teams don't is zillions of dollars, and like I said, any other team with that much money could be just as successful by creating their own all-star team.

i don't understand why homosexual men like to have anal sex, but i don't care, and it doesn't bother me, that's their thing and they're happy with it so let it be...
how's that for an "anal"ogy ?
BTW, don't try to act like the Red Sox don't do the same thing throwing their money around like it grew on trees...
the red sox are to the Yankees what the leafs are to the Habs...
2nd best.

Well I guess my only response to that incredible analogy would be that Yankees fans flaunt their success in everyone else's face 364 days a year (the one day being the one when they dropped the Pennant finals last year), while Gay Pride Parades only happen once a year. Yankees fans act like their team is fundamentally better than everyone else's, but that's not true, because all their players came from "everyone else's" teams. Tha Yankees are like an All Star team, and to me, there's just no fun in being so "powerful", even if it is only because you spend audacious sums of money, that their is the EXPECTATION of winning the World Series every year. The Yankees have to win it JUST to maintain their fans' expectations, while every other team in the league considers it a dream or a hope fulfilled, not a requirement.

how would you know what a Yankees fan thinks? you aren't a Yankees fan...
JEASLOUSY IS UGLY my friend, oogly. Anyone who says they wouldn't want their favourite team (w/e sport) to be as storied, successful, and dominant as NYY is lying through their teeth.

You know, its so funny to witness the bipolar personality of Yankees fans...when they are the top dog in the league because George guessed right that the players he bought with his millions perform up to the superhuman perfection expected by the fans to earn their paycheck, they are smug, myopic and just waiting to be hoist on their own petard when George signs players who mail in their performances and the fans act like Armageddon is upon them. I have to agree with Neil on this; just because George has the bucks to buy the best players doesn't mean squat when it comes to work ethic and a love for the game. The storied Yankees teams of the 20's-40's are so much different from the Yankee teams owned by George when it comes to class acts. Gehrig, Bambino, etc vs. A-Rod, Jeter? No question Gehrig and his teammates are better examples of sportsmanship and class.
