Yeah. That place sounds perfect. I'm coming from Mt. Prospect. Gonna park down at my buddy's place on Southport and Addison. So stoked. This is going to be a great time. Not sure if Chi-town is a good a "Hip Town" as Detroit is. That show kicked some serious ass. I've seen the Hip three times in Chicago, once in Hamilton (two years ago @ New Years), and I really think that Detroit was the best show I've seen. Great theater, great town, best group of people (I'm sure mostly from windsor, but regardless) I've seen at a show. Beer lines could have been quicker, but hey, you gonna throw away a mercedes 'cause she's got a dent in her?

Chicago is a Hip town, most likely thanks to WXRT 93 fm that plays them (and not just Courage and NOIS). Most likely, this show will sell out by showtime and I think the Riv holds about 1800 - 2000 people.

I've seen the Hip at Martyr's (capacity 350) in 1998, Vic Theatre (1200), Metro (1000), UIC pavillion (capacity 4500 but only half filled) and the Worlds Largest Block Party with at least 6000 people. Best of course was Martyrs but at metro, I was up against the stage about 2 feet from Paul.

Fire up.

I'm bumpin this page like on STG. I'll be at the Hop Leaf around 6pm. You'll recognize me as the one with the beer and hummin' "at the 100th meridian".....

Question: Why isn't "the heart of the melt" played often? I think they've only played it twice. That is becoming my fave of the new record. Hope they play it in Chicago.

If Anyone is interested in going to the Hop Leaf before or after the show here's a link with some reviews.

Excellent. - chicagoblackhawks77 - 10-11-2004

Sounds like a hell of a place. Love Bells. Cannot get it here in Kansas City, the REAL Paris of the Prairie.

I'm there. I'll have a Tigers hat on, with a Roots "Canada" sweatshirt.

See you guys there. 6ish????

Mick

6ish is is! I too love Bells from K-zoo. I think the HopLeak pours both Oberon and Two-hearts. Nothing goes down easier except maybe a Kokanee, right? Wink

I'll be the short, almost bald guy, and maybe we can get the bartender to play some Hip.

Me and Heron will be there. We are working on travel details as I write (what else does one do while at work other than plan Hip shows and watch Redsox games?). 8)

It should be awesome. I think we may have quite a turn out at the Hop. Big Grin

Maybe we can all rush the gates together. :rambo: :rambo: :rambo:

Well, I have to go take a smoke break now. I can't believe they pay me for this.

dunno like. for one, stupid american laws will mean i can;t drink (what the hell is 21 all about??!!).

you can't understand how NOBODY has even heard of the tragically hip over here, but i travelling with dad sister and brother. and i've promised them the best gig ever. better not be disappointed. IT's such a stroke of luck tho. Basically we won a competition with 4 nights in chicago (6 days roughly) in 4 star hotel, with V.I.P. tickets to the Bears vs Redskins game (i a die hard football fan). anywho, i'm searching around on the off chance a band i like is playing in chicago. I couldn't believe it when i saw that the Tragically Hip were playing. naturally, i've never seen them before, it's impossible to get cd's over here (thank god for e-bay) so i gonna jump at the chance.

this had better be good!! maybe i should make a giant banner... "travelled half way around the world to see the Hip" lol
