Having seen The Hip in Detroit last week, I'm driving to Chicago in a few weeks. Just bought tickets today. Is Sam Roberts opening again?

Hey,

I'm driving in from Kansas City the night before, but I'd love to pre-game with some other hip fans.

As a native chicagoan, here are a few thoughts, and hey, I haven't lived there in a few years, so if you current locals think another place would be better, throw it out.

The Gin Mill - Lincoln Park Excellent drinking hole. Openned by a trandplanted detroiter. Total Red Wings Bar.

Justins - Wrigleyville Good time. Pub / Sports bar. Great location. Solid atmosphere.

Both a brief cab ride to the Riv.

LMK if you guys want to hook up. I'm in for sure.

lets keep this post current with possible meeting places. i definitely want to meet up and meet some fellow hipbasers. i'm going there with my girlfriend and expect to get there friday about 6pm. i'm still undecided on hotels. i'm HOPING with the cubs out of the playoffs that a lot of people will be canceling there reservations for rooms and maybe some prices will drop. i cant wait.......never been there except brief stays at the airport.

Hello....I'm new to the board but going to the Chicago show. If you're looking for a great place pre-game, go to The Hop Leaf on Clark Street (andersonville neighborhood). One of the best beer menus in the city and less than 5 minutes from the Riv. Hope to see you there.

Love andersonville. My dad and I used to go every christmas to all the old swedish deli's. Great part of town. That bar sounds awesome.

I'm actually staying with my parents out in the burbs. I know it's lame, but free.
