It's not one of my favorites and I don't like the intro so much but it a cool song.
What's interesting is that the main verse chords are the same as Wheat Kings. You can sing the verse lyrics to Wheat Kings over the song.
When the first verse starts go with 'Sun down in the paris....' instead (using the same vocal harmonies Gord uses in Summer), it's kind of neat. It would be cool if he put in a Wheat Kings verse towards the end of the song when they did it live (and how many would notice).
Upon further reflection the chord progression isn't exactly the same:
Wheat Kings is G-C-G-C per line
Summer is just G-C per line (but it's still cool damit!)

 Thanks, I listened to SIKU over and over again trying to find cowbells...
I definitely think in like 10 years, I'll hear SIKU and remember the summer of 2004. IBE was released. Nostalgia. The song has that season anthem feel to it. Just like everytime I hear "Save The Planet"... memories of stuff going on at that time. Much like any music in general, but the Hip specific... :thumb:

Are you kidding? The extended 'praises' kicks butt. It is demented, which is the point. But I'll concede that it's not radio friendly.
Gus and Mean Streak?? They're both standout tracks fer me.

..am i the only one who thinks Gus is one of the weaker songs on the disc? if i want 'old sounding hip' i'll put on an older cd..to me it's one of, if not the weakest song on the disc musically anyways....

I personally think that Gus is one of the best songs musically on IBE. I love the guitar work in the song. The lead work has kind of a Pink Floyd-ish feel to it.

Gus kicks, but i was thrown the first couple times i heard it. it's one of those songs you have to let yourself accept at face value before it'll open up to you.

hehe, so i'm left wondering why they'd make it the second radio single

cratch: ah, what can i say, it's not my type. i'll try it again come wintertime.
