12 is their best release in a long time. I've been listening to it a lot, and also saw them last week. It was a great show, and the new songs come off really well live. "Spinning Our Wheels" is easily my favourite track on the album and one of the best they've ever written. I was huge into Sloan in the 90's to mid 2000's, but kind of lost track of them from about 2007 until recently. Glad I picked them up again because they are really good.

The show I just saw was my 10th, I believe, and every time I've seen them they have been really good. I was at the last of the 4 Palais Royale shows, where it was Andrew's birthday and he collapsed on his drum kit in the middle of "Money City Maniacs"; Chris just kept the bass line churning, got the crowd to clap to the beat, and cheer on Andrew. The roadie helped put his set back together, then he ripped into a wicked drum solo, and the song went on like nothing happened. It was the best thing I've ever witnessed at any concert! If you guys get a chance, check them out on this tour.

Side note, if you go to their website, you can see me in the crowd of one of the pictures. I'm the guy in the black hat with my hands around my mouth about 2 rows back, centre, where Chris is sitting on his monitor, with his back to the audience.

I like it -- good album. I was not as keen on Commonwealth, did not find it too memorable, but was a fan The Double Cross.

For funny live shows, I saw them play an Ottawa suburb on Canada Day for July 1st. Opener wraps up, Sloan is set up, and local politician comes out to introduce the band, something along the lines of: "thanks for coming out for Canada day, we have a great fireworks show ready to show. But first, Sloan."

The look of Chris' face was priceless, just total amusement that they were opening for fireworks. Then then put on a great "best of" show.

After a few listens I think I'd put this in the bottom half of Sloan offerings. It's a solid album but other than "Spin Our Wheels" there aren't any true standout tracks. I could have done without "Don't Stop (If It Feels Good Do It)". It was done much better the first time on Pretty Together.
