wont be like the west, but i would assume there will be a few minor drops in prices for at least one toronto show and the hamilton one...maybe ottawa

london and kingston...fergettaboutit

Even for Kingston some outrageous pricing where there's no way they'll move -- $500 single behind the stage, $1600/seat for a pair in one of the corner. Guess it depends on who has the seats. If it's a broker who has already sold a bunch, OK to take a wash on some. If it's joe schmo who grabbed a pair, or a single, to try and make some $$ going to be motivated to sell.

The most recent sale I have observed for an Ontario show is this toronto single floor row 26 sold @ $226 with only 2 bidders and 2 total bids.

Why is London such a hot ticket? Americans, or just the location being so far out of the GTA?

Edit: duh, small arena too.

I saw Pearl Jam there in 2013. I think it seats 7000.

London is a hot ticket because of a few things, a smaller arena is the biggest reason obviously, the show is also likely drawing people from Windsor/Detroit to London as well as some GTA folks too. Also I think that the ticketing system being "not ticketmaster", made it harder for people who have "better access" to TM tickets (all the tricks of the "ticket buying trade" - legit or not so legit), so that way more actual ticket users bought the tickets in my opinion rather than people looking to sell -- there are less than 190 seats for London on Stubhub, and closer to 700-1000 for each of the Toronto/Hamilton shows, 4-5X as many tickets available in an arena that is maybe a little over 2X the size (9000 vs 19800 for concerts)....to me that looks like more people who bought the tickets (% wise) intended to use them for London....I am sure it is way easier to find a buyer in the GTA to see a show in the GTA, than someone who is willing to travel to London or lives in London already (way less people to draw demand from obviously), the numbers just work better for large scale resales in Toronto than hoping to make a lot of money 2 hrs away from a major market - I'm not condoning this, I'm just laying out a theory as to why there are proportionally more tickets available in Toronto per show (and hence more supply which has driven the prices down thankfully) than in London....who knows? it's all just speculation on my part.... Wink

I think that if Kingston was not the last show announced for the tour (and on a Saturday) and it was followed by other shows in Ontario or the East coast, I think it too would have cost significantly less than it does now for the same reason. As much as its the hometown show, it took on much greater demand because of when the show is taking place (on a Saturday, as the "last show of the tour"), if Kingston would have been on August 10th and Toronto/Hamilton on August 20th as the last show listed, the pricing for Kingston would be nowhere near as much and likely would have mostly had locals in attendance, as way less people would be making the pilgrimage to Hips-ton on a weeknight with three shows occurring afterwards in Toronto/Hamilton (for example)....I will be honest, I was lucky enough to get tickets to one Toronto show and for Kingston too (I actually got a pair in the last row at the back during the Amex presale!), would I have even tried for Kingston if it was not the last show listed?, and on a Saturday night (when I could travel easily)?, if I'm being honest, probably not, I have seen the Hip about 30X and have mostly seen GTA shows (Hamilton/Toronto) as that's my local area, I doubt many others would have rushed to Kingston had it been a mid-week show like London and not the "last stop" listed --- it would have catered mostly to locals (who would have kept their tickets) --- Even though I was lucky enough to get tickets and appreciate it immensely, I can understand the thinking of some folks who said, had Gord's health announcement been made after the onsale date, Kingston would have been mostly sold to locals, and that's probably what they should have done if the goal was to get tickets into the hands of as many "local fans" as possible for the August 20th show. Obviously decisions were made otherwise regarding onsales, and I was one of the rare few who benefited by it, but I'm in the minority here who got really "lucky"......

Speaking from 30+ years of ticket buying experience, I am sure Toronto will have many drops of tickets in the next week or so, so I would be very watchful of ticketmaster for those still looking for tickets in the GTA - let's just say your diligence will pay off 99% of the time, I am less confident in seeing a big drop for London and Kingston though, but keep your eyes peeled, you might just get luckier than you think.....

I agree with all that. Being in Ottawa, I've made the trip to Kingston for the past few shows. The only recent show that maybe came close to this was the "opening the arena" show, where there was a lot of demand plus it was a Saturday. NFPA show sold out or was very close, but not immediately (mid-week show). FC show, I bought good tickets in the pre-sale then upgraded to 2nd row floor a few days before (likely unsold platinum seats). I'm not sure if that was sold out, thought it was likely close.

So Kingston is always a strong sell, but add "last show of the tour" and all the other speculation and there's high demand. I still think scalpers will need to blink though, especially those with singles.

Exactly. I go to Kingston shows not only because I love the hometown vibe, they're also the closest to me. I love festival shows so K Rock is the only arena show I'd let myself see them at. If the circumstances were different, I'd not be seeing them in a huge arena in Toronto, in the nosebleeds. I'd not have paid $1250 for a pair of tickets that I got last year (one row difference) for $250. I'd not be booking pretty much a full week from work for the experience.

It all just comes down to what this tour means.

Like I said in my long winded post above --- there are tickets coming in Toronto (I'm surprised by London), Hamilton will happen too in time.....Kingston, I'm less sure about as I think a lot of the "extra" tickets will be comped to the "important people" in the entertainment industry (music/sports/broadcasting/celebrity types), and important friends and family.....but maybe I'm just speculating.... Fingers crossed the ticket prices go down for Toronto and The Hammer. My first choice is Hamilton (where I live). But, I would love to go to the Toronto 16th show as well. Not sure how long I can stay patient ha. I have to see at least 1 show. But, I hate to give the scalpers big $$. I have seen them live 42 times and this is obviously ridiculous...

Cheers Hip Fans!
