Listening to Nautical Disaster...that whole album encapsulates how I feel right now, dark and dreary. Still haven't accepted I'll never hear that song, or any other Hip song, live again. I'm kind of pissed off.

Never posted a ton here, but I’ve been lurking for years. I wanted to say something about today, but wasn’t sure what to say.... The above seems to capture where I’ve been at today.
Thanks for the journey.

Does anyone have 'no dress rehearsal, this is our life' in the hip's font? I'm going for a tattoo.

Thank you Gord for writing the soundtrack to most of my life. a
Thank you SiriusXM for the perfect 24 hour random shuffle.
i've 2 cried at farewell shows: Gene in London and then last Kingston gig watching in a hotel room on my iPad. But this is the first time i've ever cried from the death of an artist. I've mourned a dozen times. but never shed actual tears. this is going to be a rough road. Being a fan from the US makes it even harder. where i have hardly anyone to talk to about it. so here i am reading your thoughts and feeling like i'm not so alone.
so my final, and 3rd thank you is to you folks.

My friend, here in the UK, we have nothing. No music, no newspaper coverage. Thank the lord for the internet.

A lifetime of memories on repeat in my head....new ones re-surfacing out of nowhere brining tears mixed with smiles
Family and friends reaching out and sharing grief ... and love
it seems like only yesterday when this band entered my life...where the hell does the time go ?
I raised my kids to their music and now will do the same with my grandson
thanks to everyone here for being music lovers

Woke up today and while leaving for work, I noticed a beautiful sunrise in the east. It made me think of "The sun came up and shot through the blinds, today was the day and I was already behind" and a sense that everything is going to be ok.
While still pretty upset today, I continue to find solace in knowing Gord's music will continue to be with us for as long as we chose to listen to it.
Hang in there folks!

Out of all the grief, it is awe inspiring to see the outpouring for Gord. I knew it would be this way, but its still amazing to see how many people he's touched. You couldn't turn a channel last night without seeing coverage. Even the support on the States side is incredible, some people who you would never expect, Chuck D, Micheal McKean, Rolling Stone, New York Times, etc.
Out of all the grief, it does bring a bit of a smile to see.
I think I mentioned it before, but I foresee a HUGE benefit concert in the near future. Something of the likes after Freddie Mercury passed, where the band performs with special guest after special guest, all benefits going to cancer research. I think this is inevitable, and fitting for what Gord has meant to Canada.

This is way too personal but I'm just gonna share it anyway & be embarrassed because I can't say it right but happy because I tried anyway:
Maybe once or twice a year i have a dream about Gord. Last night was one of those nights. Laying in bed this morning with Ahead By A Century & Trickrider whispering in my head, thinking about how even in life Gord was mostly spirit, mostly human soul. He seemed at home in the world that is invisible, that can't be seen with the human eye but is real & present nonetheless. The world of all the powerful but invisible energies of the spirit, like love & creativity & joy & despair. Now he's all spirit, which doesn't mean he's gone but just means he's in a place that's harder to get to than Toronto. He's part of all those invisible but real things, & for me, to spend time with Gord all I have to do is love or dream or write or draw. That's where Gord lives for me now, that's where I can go to find him.
& the music, of course. Ahead by A Century is just making the sun a bit warmer this morning, the coffee a bit richer, the day a bit more enticing & worth exploring. I am so grateful I found the Hip when I did & so grateful for every word Gord's written & every performance he's spun out in front of me. Cheers to everyone on here, I hope Gord shows up in your day in the magical way only Gord can.
