I am shure Gord and the boys have fond memorys of Comander Tom and Irve Winestine. Buffalo the city is/was thier first American exit!
that UB show was my first, so... i remember Buffalo. *but*, at ArtPark, Gord said "the animal, not the town" or something to that effect.

If by rule you mean, 40 years without a cup appearance, I guess you're right.
I think it's buffalo. Gord sometimes follows up the line with his "Pull! *chk-chk*" shotgun move, so that's more proof behind the animal theory.

Amen

I'm going both too. I'm sure it is about the animal but then I'm also like most of the lyrics they have duel meanings and the "shoe at UB' came to mind. Plus it just sounds good and need a word to rhyme w/Hengelo.

When the Hip play Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Hamilton, Toronto, Barrie, Cleveland or anywhere within driving distance of Buffalo...Gord means Buffalo all other times he means buffalo or Vice Versa. Does that clear it up.

As far as the Sabres are concerned, it is just nice to have a sports team worth watching for a change. Also, they make the game far more exciting thereby making the NHL more exciting. Also Sabre defensemen Brian Campbell is a huge Hip fan.

Hearing's the whole problem. Songs are meant to be heard, not read, and you can't hear the difference between buffalo and Buffalo.

So it means either, or both.

you know, fair enough and I get that Gord might be being playful with his lyrics (hard to believe, I know), but that kinda defeats the whole point of the thread and the poll, so how about you play along and pick a side. :rambo: *

(although since "Buffalo" is winning at last check, *my* whole point in the thread and the poll might be defeated already.)

*obviously kidding; be as contrary as you like. Excercise your right to not vote in my dumb poll. Cast a blank ballot. Have you read "Seeing" by Jose Saramago?
Fine, I'm voting buffalo, the animal, just because the Sabres fans are so frigging annoying these days.

And also because I've been to Buffalo, and can't imagine why anyone in his right mind would want to remember it.

True, but hey the team is amazing, gotta give them credit for that. Being a die hard Leafs fan I am sure I have been called annoying at times too.............
Yes, the team is amazing. That's precisely why they're so annoying. Because they're frigging right!
this topic keeps reminding me of the sentence:

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

a complete, grammatically correct sentence

more info on it here --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_buf...o_buffalo.
Buffalo New York has embraced the Tragically Hip like fue other American citys. Over the years as I stood in the audiance I would raise my hand in the air and celebrate my hometown when the lyric is reached. And most importantly the thing to remember is that the Oilers suck!
