I don't understand the face value of $499? How can they get away with that? The other guys posting that we were monitoring had a face value of $499 as well...
CAN SOMEONE SHUT THESE FUCKING AUCTIONS DOWN!!!

These people aren't hip fans. They are fuckers that stole the real fans god damn tickets for the show that real fans can't attend.

I'm pissed. I hate scalpers more than anything!!
I'm with ya on this one! Shut em down! It is total BS that peeps buy these to try and make a buck when the real fans get screwed. Unfortunately this is probably just the beginning with a full on tour coming up.

I agree! They are the lowest of the low! :x

I'd hazard to guess that these Ebay auctions are coming from scumbags who registered at thehip.com over the last 24 hours, lucking out with tix, and in turn, shutting real fans out.

Sorry to repeat myself, but this window of scalper opportunity has really put a black mark on the presale for me.

Doesn't help being shut out, either. Sad

I hear ya, and I completely agree with Jamie, this is fuckin bullshit. Scalpers are terrible peices of shit.
I agree with everything that has been said in this thread. and this is the reason why i dont like how easy it is to register to thehip.com. I liked the way the old Hip club was, with the card given out in the IVL album. I would have much rathered this type of Hip club. give out a card or a number or something with an album or DVD or whatever. this helps out the real fans who BUY music as well (as opposed to downloading).

Now MAv, dont get discouraged or think that I am ungrateful for all you have done (which I very much so am), but I just dont like how easy it is for random people (cough)scalper(cough) to register to the Hip club. We need real fans buying these "first in line" tickets to make each concert that much better. And there isnt really anything that can be done about the scalpers buying general public tickets, but to have said people joining the Hip club just to make some money, is un-Hip.

With thousands upon thousands of auctions at any one time at eBay it is pretty difficult to get things like this shut down instantaneously. But if you follow the links to report a complaint, it will get shut down eventually.

I still think if the public registration was shut down just before the tour announcement and put up after the presale was done, you would have had a lot less of what is going on on Ebay.

That might have worked for this tour, but what about the next tour they announce. If people realize that it gets shut down before the tour is announced and put back up after the pre-sale, these scalpers would just sign up a few days before the announcement. Also on thehip.com it says it takes 24 hours to register, which is pretty much what you are saying, about shutting it down, as the announcement for the tour was made a little over 24 hours before the presale.

I tend to think this isn't the/a solution . . .
when I see tickets on sale on E-bay and on craigslist.org for astronomical amounts it just makes my blood boil. I couldn't get close to getting into the site and even acquiring tickets and yet asses like these people are selling tickets at 300-500 dollars a pair!! Unbelievable!!

Back in '96, I went and saw Prince at Place Des Arts here in Montreal. Tickets were announced 48 hours before the show. Those that got the chance to purchase tickets could only get 2 and they could only get the tickets when they showed up to the venue on the day of the show with photo ID that matched the name on the credit card. Otherwise you could not get tickets. This is the only way I have seen recently that stops scalpers cold.

Oh well, here's hoping for Friday and for this whole multiple dates thing to be straightened out.

I don't think scalpers would go through the trouble of keeping tabs on a "possible" Hip tour announcement -- they saw the red flag, in this case, the presale announcement, and they took advantage of it.

There is no other explanation for these Ebay auctions, unless we have a lot of unscrupulous Hip "fans" that were pre-registered, well before Monday morning's tour news. I tend to believe that fans would not take advantage of the band like that.
