There is no other explanation for these Ebay auctions, unless we have a lot of unscrupulous Hip "fans" that were pre-registered, well before Monday morning's tour news. I tend to believe that fans would not take advantage of the band like that.
You never know, people will do anything to make a quick buck, especially if they know that there is a huge Canadian following for a band like the Hip.

People just need to not buy the tickets. They'll go unsold or they'll have to lower the price.
If only it were that simple. But the fact of the matter is that there are people out there who are willing to pay astronomical amounts for Hip tickets. I'm not saying its right, but only that it happens and it sucks. Scalping is illegal, but it is not enforced very well. Untill something is done about that, there is not much we can do.
Ronjustron Wrote:Back in '96, I went and saw Prince at Place Des Arts here in Montreal. Tickets were announced 48 hours before the show. Those that got the chance to purchase tickets could only get 2 and they could only get the tickets when they showed up to the venue on the day of the show with photo ID that matched the name on the credit card. Otherwise you could not get tickets. This is the only way I have seen recently that stops scalpers cold.
I like that idea actually. It can be a bit of a hassel but it will stop scalpers as they wont go through that hassel for only 2 tickets. The only flaw I would say is that if it is an arena venue with seating and you want to go with a group, you probably wont get seats together. But I think we can build on this idea.

The Ten Club is still the benchmark for getting tickets (best in the house for reserved seating) into the hands of loyal fans.
I know a scalper who absolutely hates Ten Club. :thumb:

I have to say Pearl Jam has to be the most fan-friendly band on the planet, they give so much to there fans its just awesome. I really wish bands like the Hip would follow suit.
Dont get me wrong though the Hip have been really good to us over the years, I cant complain personally. I was dissapointed with the lack of live downloads and with the fan club situation, but things are looking alot better. Especially since MAv came on board.

I agree!
They are great, and very unique band. However, I think the fact that The Hip allow countless video cameras and audio equiptment into gigs is a whole lot better than many bands (especially over here) where you can't even take a disposable camera into the arena. And yes, MAv is doing a great job!

I have tried to report as many of these as I can. If more and more people report these auctions they may be pulled. Also I have gotten a few nasty emails from the sellers. It is clear these are people that are trying to cash in on Hip fans

I keep reporting them as well.
At least you know there are two submissions per crappy auction!

59 auctions now.
Specifically, look up the seller "cardboardknight"
He has tickets for a bunch of Elton John shows and for every freaking Pre-sale hip show in Calgary and Vancouver.
How in gods name did he secure all these pre-sale tickets so fast?!?!?! This is clearly broker material and totally unacceptable!

I just went on eBay, and couldn't believe the number of tickets, and to think this is all just from the pre-sale :x
When reporting, try & report the ones listed most recently, or that are booked for the longest auction, that way there's a better chance that eBay will get to your complaint before the auction ends. Here are the auctions I've just reported:
130031665964
130031665959
140035193464
230033519129
230033518633
230033515744
230033514995
230033464535
230033464220
120036567517
cut & paste them into a complaint window and let's get these off of eBay!

Who would pay $300.00 to see The Hip?
If you are a loyal fan, you would get tix through the pre-sale, or reg sale.
If your a casual fan, is it worth it to you for $300.00.
I just don't understand who buys these tickets????
Selling them I understand, I don't think thier scum (even though I dislike this process), they are professional scalpers, it's the same person/organization selling most of the tickets.

My guess? A loyal fan who gets shut out of the presale and the reg sale.
