I have yet to order tickets from the Hip.com. Is it Will call, or are the tickets mailed out?
I think I'm in for at least 2 of the Calgary shows, but who knows, maybe 3 or all 4!
Maybe they will come trick or treating with me on their day off in Calgary...
wheres the edmonton dates?..

I'm hoping to go to the Wednesday and Thursday night shows, maybe Sunday night as well in Toronto

I hear ya. A buddy of mine has tickets for the Who here in Calgary and the Stones in Regina and offered me the chance to buy tickets for both of them. I turned them both down because I knew the Hip would be doing something here in the fall and I wanted to conserve my cash for that.
I went to the Hip at the Whiskey when my daughter was only a month old...it's tough to justify spending the money, and tough to take the night off and leave your wife/mother of the child on her own while you're out having fun. Do what 's best for you in your situation, and if that means missing the Hip because of greater priorities, don't beat yourself up over it.
So what are the chances of a site crash and a 40 page thread tomorrow morning?
Anybody want to take bets?
Where is everyone seeing 3 montreal shows? The main page still only says thursday the 9th.
From thehip.com last week about the tour announcement:
Quote:we think it will make lots of folks happy.
From what I can tell, the tour plans have dissappointed as many as they've made happy.
I'm in Saskatoon, nearest show is Calgary (6 hour drive), and I have a wedding to attend that weekend in the opposite direction.
I'm a die-hard Hip fan, but they sure make it difficult sometimes... we get the Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Aerosmith (and the Stones in Regina) - bands that sure don't need Canada to survive, but for a band that couldn't make much of a living without Canada, this is a questionable move.
I really hope they plan on filling in the skipped locations soon after.

I can understand your frusteration because I lived in saskatoon for 9 years and felt jaded many times. I am under the understanding that this is a warm up and a full tour will probably follow...after christmas maybe??
Well if you can’t bring the Hip to the Peg take a little of the Peg to the Hip:
after a flurry of emails-phone calls and flight checking this morning – I am going try for the show on Sunday October 22nd in TO since it is on the weekend I would only have to take Monday off work – since my sister lives in TO and has not seen her 16 month old nephew since he was born (one of the problems living in different cities in this large country) I can justify the trip to my partner (always the critical part as alluded to earlier by Billy) – heck she even gets a sans free kid weekend
now the critical part landing a ticket to the Oct 22nd show - tomorrow!?
It would be my first show in 15 years (more on that another time)
awesome announcement, aiming to hit 2 of the toronto shows. I wish i could pull off all 4 but thats unlikely to happen
+19!?!?!?!?!?! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well...I have gone on record a few times to lament the "Saskatchewan situation"...I didn't really expect small venue shows in Regina or Saskatoon (but it would have been nice!)...but the fact that they don't even do Winnipeg is questionable, I mean Toronto to Calgary? That's a pretty large chunk of the country that they are passing over.
I am certain that Winnipeg, Regina and Saskatoon will be remembered when the arena tour is announced...
As for me...I really don't have much of an appetite for Winnipeg, anyways...so a Calgary trip is definitely my first choice...Billy, what can you tell us about McEwen? How many people does it hold? I assume it's not a soft seat venue, so are we talking cabaret style???

Never been there...all I know is it's on campus and had a renovation (or perhaps a whole new building built) a few years ago. A lot of major bands play there so it must be a decent size.

I've seen quite a few shows there, it's a pretty large impersonal room really, with what I see as bad sound. I may also just be bitter because I saw soooo many amazing shows in the old room and loved it for it's dive quality
I'm not sure if I'll see the Hip on this tour. The last year has made me a frustrated fan. They came to Charlottetown, which was a great move, but the concert wasn't one of the top ones I've been to. It was good but the whole experience wasn't as good as seeing them other times. Also, taking so long to get the damn cd out and now it looks like yet another friggin WINTER tour across Canada. Plus, what's with the 59.50 price tag for these already announced shows? A few months ago I would have been pumped to go to Toronto for a show and in the summer I was seriously considering seeing them in Amsterdam but I think I've changed my tune. I'm not even sure if I'd go to Halifax to see them this time. It's getting kind of like a routine.
Anyway, I hope to come out of this funk I'm in and be excited to see The Hip again. Don't bother attacking my post because I might change my mind about them next week. That's all for now.
