What do ya'll think of this list and it's criteria, etc.?

http://www.avrev.com/bands/
What a bizarre top 100... it just seems utterly random, especially as they actually picked the bands firsdt and only used the criteria for the order they put them in!
Dixie Chicks at 43 eh? Weren't quite talented enough to beat out B** J*** at number 42...
Nnnnnnnnnnnrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhuh.....

Attempts to resist fail. He snaps, like a fishing line tied to a garbage truck.

Extending a line through the Mona Lisa's lips, he draws a circle. It is an enormous circle, so large in fact that he has to measure its radius with lasers. Its radius is 12.7 kilometres.

Alfred E. Neumann forms the baseline. A circle drawn by extending the line of his lower lip, from the April, 1976 cover of Mad, has a radius of only 34 centimetres.

In terms of art, then, he decides that the Mona Lisa is 12,699,966 centimetres better than the cover of the April, 1976 Mad magazine. He rejoices. He has developed an objective measure of art.

That engineering degree amounted to something, after all.

For an encore, he jerks off and counts his own spermatozoa. There are 163,579,348. He is disturbed. This is below average for New York. Perhaps he jerks off too much. This thought disturbs him. What is the national average?
All you need to know about this list are three placings...

1. Led Zepplin
53. The Clash
89. The Kinks

Credibility is lost as soon as the Clash aren't in the top-10.

And Zepplin at the top. With a 93 for innovation!

(I disagree)

The innovation was the skill they showed in ripping off the classic blues musicians
Did anyone notice who's in at #100? Wink

And while I don't give much credence to these sorts of lists...giving the Who a 44 for live performance when they're generally regarded as one of the five greatest live shows of all-time, and then giving Metallica a 46 in the same category is pretty wild.

Steve
Metallica & Van Halen beat out the Stones & the Who??!?!?!?
What a joke.
This list has absolutely no credibility.
1. Pink Floyd
2. The Beatles
3. Black Sabbath
4. The Doors
5. The Rolling Stones
6. AC/DC
7. Pearl Jam
8. Rush
9. U2
10. Tool

it was so hard for me not to add The Hip, Rage Against The Machine or Smashing Pumpkins to that list...
Lynyrd Skynyrd as low as 71?

Foreigner at 44 and Steely Dan at 24?

and how the hell did Stone temple Pilots ever make number 13.

For the record, I'm a huge Led Zep fan, but I'm not sure how they made number 1 on this criteria... Confusedcratch:
TDC - I'm sorry but there's no way that Tool and Pearl Jam deserves to be on the list of top 100 bands of ALL TIME....If Tool and Pearl Jam is in your top 10 FAVOURITE bands of all time then that's totally cool, but there's no way that they are top to 10 BEST of all time...your missing out on bands like Van Halen, Def Leppard, Guns and Roses and the Who.

You dont think Pearl Jam deserves to be in the Top 100 of all time?
Wow. Confusedhock:

I could name some bands that I think are better than PJ, but no way could I name 100.

I was thinking the same thing.
Sorry about that, I meant to say top 10 instead of top 100 bands of all time. Pearl Jam is definitely in the top 100.
And Yes, I definitely think Def Leppard is better than Pearl Jam and waayyyyyy better than Tool.
