I really hope France can pull out a win. based on the way England has been playing I don't think they can beat Brazil but could take France.

I am at work and really hoping that no-one calls during the game. (not that I am talking about my job too much I hope, as I have had a look at the themepark thread and Chris can turn when he is pushed...;-))

what a bullshit red card to rooney..hargraves played his ass off today and it's ironic that the best game england plays all tourney is the one they lose..i can't stand the way portugal plays...tsn pretty much called them out as "cheaters" and i can't say i disagree....english fans should be proud of the way they played today, and if rooney is in..who knows..felt bad for beckham as well.....

I agree, that was the cheapest red card ever, yellow at the most..come on ref! With Beckham and Rooney in that shootout its a different story, but Lampard and Gerrard in all honesty didnt take very good shots, so who knows? On a brighter note Brazil lost to France..yippee! Too bad Germany and Italy have to play in the semi, that would make a great final. I say Germany-France in the final and Germany wins!!

i dunno, i think France is gonna take it...


i was so sad when my poor Ukraine got whooped by Italy...they came so close to making it a 1-1 game on several occasions, then Italy stormed back and scored two more ...oh well, they had a hell of a tournament for their first ever world cup appearence.

I've really enjoyed watching the World Cup this year...I've watched every second of England's matches and I fail to see what all the fuss is about Frank Lampard. I know that he tore it up for Chelsea this year but he is the biggest disappointment of the whole tournament as far as I can tell...how many shots did this guy have at net? It's gotta be way over 20 and I'd say he hit the net maybe 4 or 5 times. And Ive gotta say that I don't see how Ronaldinho won the footballer of the year given how he played as well. He's obviously got ridiculous talent but he just wasn't the dominant player that I thought he was capable of being.

My buddy from France was over at my place yesterday...needless to say he had a very Happy Canada day.

i think a lot of these players are just worn out..lampard played a shit load of soccer this year, with chelsea in all sorts of competitions...still though...you gotta bury some of those..it's like a golfer..if your timing is off, it's the difference between the fairway and the rough

I think by the time they got to the portugal game, Gerrard had played for a full 12 months from European qualifying for Liverpool to this.
Mind you, I have to work the full year too, and he gets paid a bit more than me. And he doesn't have to do nightshifts.

Balls to it, they should be working their arses off every game!

And I am not sorry to see Beckham go as captain either, I don't think he was strong enough a character, and it was (imho) at the detriment to his game as well

Lampard was awesome in '04-'05 and for the 1st month last season. He's been way off that form since Christmas (both club and country).

Exactly! And at least he has the contact with Sir Alex to try and get some help. And if he is playing them in the same way, then it can only help their club game too.

What do you think about Joe Cole in your midfield gap? He had some excellent games, although did throw in some stinkers..
