I know the ticket price seems high but the hip in this venue is worth it if you ask me, it seems all concert tix are going up, $62 to see Pearl Jam this past week, $66 to see Tool next week, $71 to see Radiohead in june

after this summer I might not be able to go to any concerts ever again, it'll take me 20 years to pay off all these tickets Wink
I'm seeing "Harris" for $8 tonight!

Why should that make it worth it? I whole heartedly agree that seeing the Hip in a small venue is fantastic. I saw the Hip at the Whiskey in Calgary in 2004, and the show there was very special because of the intimacy. In no way does that make it all right for a band to gouge it's loyal fans...absolutely not. I don't care who the band is, it's just not right.

That being said, there is no question that if they announce a show here again, I will be forking over for tickets. It doesn't mean I have to like that fact or that I can't be pissed at the band for doing that to fans.
I highly doubt Ben Harper is opening, but if he is, it'll be the best concert in the history of man.

I'm going to see Ben Harper at Deer Lake Park two days later .. good weekend indeed.
ben harper rocks, but deer lake sucks to see a show..
I'd love it to be Ben Harper, but I can't see Ben Harper playing in Vancouver on Friday, then heading down to the Gorge for Saturday, then back up to Burnaby on Sunday.

My bet would be Sam Roberts.
I think it is still a good price.
Take a look at the other statium shows, they are usually 100-150 now
Harper is in Bend Oregan with bedouin on the Friday May 26

A-ha, there in lies the rub. You can't compare it because they are all overpriced. It doesn't make it a good price simply by virtue of being slightly less overpriced...no sir, I don't like it.
Then it might be SRB, would be great to see him 2 nights in a row, then at the Gorge!

Or if we can dream, an evening with the Hip where they pull out some of the older tunes. Smile
yeah, we can complain but I know I would still buy them!!
wow, this thread exploded!
thanks to the big A, i'll be there with y'all
i can totally see sam opening

and for those wondering, it will most likely be a full set
the 2000 greg moore benefit opener was John Ford and TTH played a 100 min. set
and when it comes to this band
no price is too much, i've never complained and never will
I know the prices are all high on the ones I listed, and as Big A said I know I'll keep spending the money. I don't like the prices being that high but in comparison to the others I listed they are slightly lower. The price isn't much higher than on their last tour, at the ACC it was $50 and at Copps for new years it was $52 (both before service charges). I imagine the whole tour was roughly the same price. I for one love the commodore ballroom and would probably pay even more to see the hip there.

Now when they start charging Rolling Stones or U2 rates, thats when I stop buying the tickets. I can understand your feelings though, and who knows if enough people voice their concerns maybe the prices will drop. Stranger things have happened.

We can all agree on one thing though, its summer time, the hip is touring, there are lots of good times to be had!
