I guess it's just a matter of semantics. I wouldn't tell people The Hip are the "best" band in the world but I would tell them they are my "favourite" band and since they satisfy my musical tastes that makes them great in my opinion. How do you judge greatness? Technical musical ability? If that's the case then Neil Young, The Hip, Pearl Jam, and Bob Dylan would be thought of as average, run of the mill musicians. What about the song "Imagine"? I think it's one of the greatest songs of all time. Musically, it's a very basic, simple song but it just has that certain something that makes it great. When playing instruments, it's not WHAT NOTES YOU PLAY, IT'S HOW YOU PLAY THEM.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. I know what you mean and I have friends who love Radiohead to no end. I just don't agree with calling them the greatest thing since sliced bread. :thumb:

I think I am with the concensus in that I really, really enjoyed their earlier material. That's not to say they have lost anything, it just comes down to personal preference.
