To celebrate what is arguably the coldest, dreariest and gloomiest month of the year, I’ve decided to offer a bit of reprieve to my fellow Hip fans.

I’m going through my bootleg collection, and I’m pulling out all of the shows I have that were recorded in February. I’m going to try my best to share them all on the tracker on their respective anniversaries.

I do not claim to have recordings of every show, but I will post the ones that I do have. I will not post anything that has already been uploaded onto the tracker, unless I can offer an upgrade, or several requests are made, and no one is able to re-seed the original. I’m currently in the process of ripping and compressing files, and I won’t guarantee that I’ll actually find all of these shows, or that I won’t find some other unexpected ones, but most likely I’ll be sharing these:

I must add one disclaimer to all of this: life happens! I do intend, and see no reason why I won’t be able to post these shows on their anniversaries. However, my wife is currently 2 days overdue with our second child, I do have a job, and my computer did have a nearly fatal crash not so long ago. In other words, please be understanding if something unforeseen happens to delay any of these uploads.

Before signing off, I’d like to take this opportunity to challenge any other collectors out there to jump on the wagon any fill any of the gaps. If you’ve got a February show that’s not listed above, please reply here with your intentions to upload it when the time comes. I know that I’d love to add to my collection!

I’ll start later today (Feb. 1) with the short radio broadcast of a Diamond Club gig from 1988. If all goes well, and I can stay a couple of steps ahead, maybe I’ll carry this into March, and beyond…

Two songs caught from a radio broadcast. I have not been able to pin down the exact date of
the show these were recorded from, but it seems to be generally accepted that it was sometime
in February of 1988. A couple of sources indicate that this show was recorded at an unknown
date in 1989, but I've read a couple of first hand accounts from people who were present for
what seems likely to have been this show, in February of 1988. It's short, but interesting,
especailly the version of Werewolf.

OK, today being the 5th, I’m just about to upload 02/05/1999 – Montreal, QC to the tracker, but first, a bit of housekeeping.

After looking into it, I see that my source from 02/08/1999 is different than the one previously posted on the tracker. I’m currently downloading the one on the tracker, and will try to compare them and make a quality comparison before the 8th. Either way, I will seed my copy on the 8th, for all of the completists out there.

I have also realised that my copy of 02/22/1999 is different than the one posted on the tracker earlier. I downloaded that one when it was posted, and I believe that the copy I have on CD is better than the one already seeded. Of course, that’s very subjective, so I will try write up a bit of a comparative review before the 22nd. Again, I’ll definitely upload my other copy for those who are interested.

Also, it seems that I made a typo in my original post. 02/20/2002 was torrented not so long ago by Chris, so I won’t be uploading that one. However, audio for 02/23/2002 has not been hosted on the tracker, so I will upload that one when the time comes. The video from that Olympic show was included on one of the miscellaneous grab bag DVDs, but I’ll post the audio recording that I have for anyone who wants it.

Finally, I’m sorry to say that I have not been able to find my copy of 02/12/2002 in my collection. I do know for sure that I had it, but it is now one of several shows that I haven’t been able to locate over the last year or so. I don’t know if the bootleg fairy has been here and stiffing my on my loonie, if the dryer has been eating them, if my 2 year old is slowly trying to drive me crazy, or most likely, I’ve somehow misplaced them somewhere! Any way you cut it, I don’t foresee finding that show before the 12th, sorry.

As some of you may have seen in my comments over on the tracker, my wife gave birth to our second son yesterday! I didn't think that I'd be able to upload the 02/06/93 & 99 shows today, but we're already home, so I'll get them up now. I will have to shut down the computer over night, because my parents are staying with us for a couple of days, and this beast purrs a little to loudly for anyone trying to sleep in this room! I'll pick it up again tomorrow.

Congratulations on the new son James! And wow!!! You're home already... I guess that everyone is in tip-top shape.

Smoke a big stogie for me James....Hope everyone is healthy and happy! As my wife said after my second "Time to get snipped"...of course I haven't yet...ouch!
