it finally starts up on monday, and sadly i have interest in it more than some.. my cousins dna was found on the pig farm, and i hope this bastard rots in hell..i've heard a lot of jokes though, and a lot of disrespect about all the victims just being "whores and drug addicts"..well..these women were family...they were daughters..mothers..sisters..and well.cousins...heather was a great person before she fell in with the wrong crowd..i hadn't spoken to her in a couple of years, but the love i felt for her had never gone away...i have a picture of the 2 of us from my 4th birthday party of the 2 of us hugging..she was one year older than me....i'm not sure what the purpose of this post is..except to say if you've ever thought that those women were lesser people, i hope you change your mind...nobody wants to end up down there...here's hoping that justice is done, although nothing will bring back my favorite cousin..
Sorry to hear that Ope...very sad indeed. My Head Office is in Port Coquitlam and the first time I flew out there for meetings I had someone from the office take me by the old Pig farm. I was shocked to see just how close all of these brand new homes have been built to the crime scene. I hear that a number of these homes may need to be raized to continue the search for more evidence and DNA.
And a number of people in the office have been to Piggy's Palace parties throughout the years...one guy still had a T-Shirt from the place.
RG
it really is sick..i used to live just minutes away from there, and a few of my buddies have been to piggies palace...i'm glad that i always declined to go there because i don't know how i'd feel if i had actually been on the site
wow mr, i'm soooo sorry to hear about your loss...not to mention everyone else who lost a loved one in this gross tragedy. being south of the border, i had never heard of this before...but i am so sorry for your loss. please keep us informed with how the trial goes, ok?
much love O.

I'm so sorry opiated.

Just remember that the things you'll read in the paper won't be the things you'll remember about Heather and try not to let it upset you too much. I went through a murder trial a number of years back that made headlines in London Ontario(my sister's best friend- and my friend as well- was strangled to death by her estranged boyfriend when she was almost 9 months pregnant) and the person they portrayed in the media was NOT who we knew. People were talking to the press about the 'couple' and we'd never seen them before. All in all it was very enlightening to how slanted (be it their fault or not... sensationalism and all that) the media is. To this day it's hard for me to read the paper without wondering what the real story is.
Anyway, I pray you and your family get the closure you need. Try not to begrudge those who are trying to find humour in it... they aren't intentionally trying to hurt anyone involved. Sometimes humour is all we have when the unthinkable like this happens.
I'm sorry, I feel entirely out of the loop. Perhaps I missed the news that week. Can someone enlighten me?

instead of hashing it up any further on here, just do a search online. you'll find articles on it for sure.
again O, from the pm i sent earlier and what i've already posted - i'm really sorry that you're all having to go through this all again but i hope this trial will finally bring the justice you and the other families need and deserve.
It is a truly disgusting story out in BC. Is it believed that he acted alone throughout the years, or is it thought that he had help? Sorry about your loss Opiated!

I had heard references to this story, but know NOTHING about it - and it sounds like you and i
aren't the only ones
Blocking news reports of the trial are an attempt to limit the sensationalism and protect the victims' surviving relatives from a whole new victimization.
What do you need to know about the Pickton case?
Here's a link to the CBC site on the topic:

Sorry to hear that one of your family members was a victim to that sick monster. Hopefully our justice system doesn't let us down and puts that bastard away forever. I can't believe he had the nerve to plead not guilty. Here's hoping that you will be able to find some closure at the end of this all.
thanks for all the kind words both in this thread and in pm's...it's very much appreciated by my entire family...

First off - thanks for the link. This story is beyond macabre.
Secondly, i fully understand the attempts to limit rampant sensationalism and to protect victims families from being haunted by this horror story every waking hour of their lives.
I just find it quite hard to believe that the American media machine (which supposedly is not subject to the block) hasn't been parading this one in front of us every other day. Heck, they don't even report on it, period. The Lacy Peterson story simply could not be avoided no matter how diligently one tried to ignore it, and though it was tragic, the crime involved was of a lesser scale than those perpetrated by this pig-farmer jackleg...and yet the media doesn't breathe a word of it....

cratch:
Here's hoping justice is served and that piece of garbage gets what he deserves.

The media's lack of interest might stem from the same place as the police's lack of interest. If I may be so blunt - Lacy Peterson was a glowing, white, middle-class expectant mother, not a drug-addicted, prostitute.
Sorry if I sound bitter. But I am.
