On CPAC now.

My interpretation so far:

Gay Marriage
Harper: Against gay marriage. He wants to re-open a vote on the law.
Martin: Let's move on it's settled.
Duceppe: Here, Here
Layton: Let's move on.

So far the underlying current is that the Conservatives are attacking the Liberals, and vice versa, and Layton is fed up with it, as am I.

Gun Control
All for it in various ways.
Leaders are commenting on how poverty relates to crime.

Health Care
Layton: Move patients around, specifically the elderly back home, to free up beds.
Harper: Educate more young people, pump more money in. Move people to a different location, to reduce a wait time I live in Banff, and have to go the hospital in Edmonton???? Pardon???
Duceppe: Downsize the exec's and hire more front line staff
Martin: Bla Bla Bla.......

Immigrant/Education
Duceppe: Taxi Drivers need an education
Layton: We need to educate Immigrants (uh.... thanks?)
Martin: Bridge to Work program, have spent 20 million dollars on Language Training ???? What ????
Harper: Imigrants are educated trades people

Ethics
Martin: We are reacting to the scandal by suing people
Duceppe: They don't know who took what money
Harper: Produce a "Federal Accountablity Act"
Layton: No Solution, Vote NDP rahh! rahh! rahh!

Election Promises
Harper: Law holding Leaders accountable for breaking a promise will bog down the court system
Martin: Would like to see a timeline to realize promises
Layton: Agrees with Martin, then attacks Martin with the "Bono doesn't support Martin" angle, (that argument is weaker than a tea bag in the ocean) Then goes on to say Vote NDP rahh!, rahh!, rahh!
Duceppe: Doesn't have an answer, attacks Liberals

Question Period
Layton: We need more women, Vote NDP, and get more women
Martin: Can't we all just get along? I agree with NDP
Duceppe: It should be called "Answer Period"
Harper: The media exploits us all, TURN THE CAMERA OFF!!!

Tax Money
Layton: Attacks Liberal, and then says we'll pump into Child Care, then says something about beer and popcorn
Harper: Tax give away for parents, to use as they want, perhaps for some beer and popcorn, or an extra handgun?
Duceppe: Quebec has the best Child Care program in North America
Martin: Supports, E.C.E. and recites a track record of some sort

Jobs for young people
Harper: Tax break for small business
Layton: Regional Development Strategy
Martin: Kinda the same thing as the NDP
Deuceppe: Young people are choosing the wrong jobs
this is a serious board isnt it? Big Grin haha I psot threads about fishing and cars and you guys talk about politics and leadeship. This place is cool!

Im so bored and just want to talk lol
Correct me if Im wrong but Im watching CPAC right now and its the Debate from Dec 16/05 thats on, tonights debate starts at 8pm EST doesn't it?
I believe you are correct, This debate did not get the coverage that tonight's will. The debate, (which is just ending now 5pm MST on CPAC) was from Vancouver, tonight's is from Montreal.
My question to all here is, does a debate carry enought weight to make someone actually consider voting for a different party? Is anyone still undecided and using the debate as a deciding factor?

Sorry for the quiz, just wondered how much faith people put into these debates.
I use the debate as a major source of information. I am admittingly not that strong in the world of politics. I cannot say that I will base my vote on tonight's debate, however I will be more informed.

I feel the same way, Im not into politics much per say, but I do like to stay informed and the debate is always a good way for me to get up to speed on the issues.

I think I would have noticed if somebody finally made a serious post around here....

He made two posts earlier today, one was a fishing video and the other I forget, but he apparently deleted them.
So... is Gilles Duceppe just there for comic relief?
And the New World Champion is........

oops wrong channel....
Well, I still agree with the NDP, however supporting our Public Health Care System with a "private sector" isn't neccasarily a bad thing, the way the government manages it is another.
What is the deal with the Bloc? I dont understand this party at all, (partly because I couldnt read their webpage) But does Duceppe even care about anyone outside of Quebec? If this guy by some miracle became PM, what the hell would happen to this country? I'd rather have someone from the Green Party up there instead, at least I could understand them.

Yeah, I think he's great. He's damn funny. I also laughed a lot at all the other candidates also. Harper has the greatest smile on the planet, Layton thinks he is the leader of the universe, and Martin gets so worked up it's hilarious. Big Grin
