Are there any other tribute bands other than Almost Hip? I remember seeing one a while ago named Totally Hip or something like that and they actually looked a lot like them, the lead guitarist had long hair and a goatee, the drummer was the shortedt and had the same hair style as Johnny, the singer had bald head on the top and shaved on the sides, and the bassist looked stunningly like Gord, and the rhythm guitarist had a french last name.
practically hip in southern ontario
of course they dont dress up like real band
JeremyHoyleBand.com (Strictly Hip).....the best!
In the past I've seen a band called 'Road Apples' that was quite good ... saw 'em in Fredericton NB. Can't remember the name of the other tribute band I saw ... 'Fully Completely' maybe?
Musically both were real tight ... but none of the band mebers really tried to resemble the Hip in any way.
I would think that there wouldnt be much demand for a Hip tribute band these days with the way music has changed
I have seen Road Apples and The Practically Hip and both were good. I don't think either of the bands looked a whole lot like the Hip. I bought a CD of Road Apples original material, under the band name "Vagabond Groove" and there were some good tunes on there, but the CD went missing years ago and I've never seen it being sold anywhere else.
There are some other threads on here about tribute bands but I'm too lazy to go digging them up...guess that's why I never passed "Tool Police" boot camp.
There are a lot of Hip cover bands out there doing their thing but I personally think that it is a little lame for bands to be making money calling themselves a "Tribute" act to a band that is still very much alive, well and continually producing new albums.
If you want to spend money to watch a REAL Tribute act go and catch "Rain" the next time they're around, or for the Pink Floyd fan, check out Ottawa's own, "Comfortably Numb"...now those guys are good!!!

"starring contest, you and me...go! You win, you always do"

This has been discussed on here several times and the consensus is ROAD APPLES. The Road Apples are amazing and have a stage presence that no other HIP cover band has. They are off the grid and it's hard to find out when they are doing a show. They sometimes play Kingston. They seem to play Westport once a year. Yes they were called Vagabond Groove back in their prime in 1995 to be exact when their song "Denial Is More than A River" got radio play. If anybody knows how to contact this band I'd love to know!
I listened to a couple of songs for "Little Bones". The music is great but the vox arent

Back in the mid 90's, there used to be a cover band in Moncton called Heksenketel. These guys were amazing! They split a few years back...
